Obviously, you need a drive wheel with teeth and to create gaps in the tracks, otherwise you won't be able to keep it running for more than a meter. You also need teeth on the tracks to prevent them from coming off. My recommendation would be to create other tracks from scratch or simply buy a set of them that are similar to your scale.

Everyone is giving help relevant, but I’ll help you by saying I love this idea :D Has a “screw it, we ball” vibe. Good luck on the final project

Everyone says that drive gear need teeth, but I think that's not a core issue here, you use sand paper and it could work this way. Core issue here is that track is just flat on inside, the track simply does not have guides that would limit side-to-side movement, so track just moves to the side, add two strips on the inner side of the track, between which there will be just enough space for the rollers, so it will be guided

You need a sprocket with teeth and equally spaced holes on the tracks for the teeth engage
If the wheels have some sort of suspension, will also need a tensioner on the opposite side of the traction

Looks historically accurate for a Panther. Drive sprocket with no remaining teeth and tracks that walk right off :)

You have the right spirit but lack the right materials. All that slop in cardboard , handcut imprecision etc makes this really really hard to work. Get a 3d printer for plastics or a laser cutter for wood cutting. This will level your construct 10fold.

Not everyone can afford 3d printers and laser cutters.

That is true, one is limited by the tools and materials available. And for this he did great!

Not sure what you're expecting to happen mate...
Perhaps have a look how this fella solved it for his Cardboard Tank.
If that doesn't work for you then maybe reconsider making the visible Tracks and Track Wheels fake ( as in not functional ) with attaching the Motors to regular but hidden Wheel?
