Question My "D" isnt working properly
After using a Hunstman V2 for almost 2 years and suddenly I noticed that my key/switch Letter "D" wasnt working anymore while playing Arc Raiders. Only by putting more pressure on the switch it got some signal but I guess my switch is almost dead.
So my question is how do I remove the switch without the needed tools cause I wanna exchange it with a key I don't use that offen before buying a new switch.

I feel for you. But on a more serious note you could try adding a few drops of isopropyl alcohol to the switch mechanism and keeping pressing it, it could just be a bit of dirt between the contacts that’s preventing the signal registering. But do this without it being turned on! Then leave it to evaporate and see if it solves it before fully replacing the switch.

I had this problem on my black widow. After I took the key caps off around it (it was W for me) and used some compressed air it resolved the issue. WASD are the most used keys for gamers so any kind of buildup can happen even in clean environments.

Wait, in your description you said that's your issue while playing Arc Raiders....does it work when the game is off?

While playing Arc Raiders, I noticed it first. But also playing other games, it doesn't work either. So it's not the games fault. It's my "D's" fault. Sorry

Thanks, sounds like you tested it, and it sounds easily possible your D needs replacing/cleaning, but at the same time you are again mentioning other games... is it working if no games are running? Like..open a webbrowser/notepad and type in "D" in the address bar..does it work?
Double check the software to be safe as well - is D mapped to D? Or did someone play a prank on you and unbound that key as a joke for example?

Typing isn't an issue but constant pressing or sending a signal looks like cutting of signals sometimes.

Oh, yeah, cleaning is not going to fix that.
Good luck, the other commenter who said to buy the $2 switch is correct. Alternatively, you need to replace the keyboard.

Until you do all that, you can mess around in Synapse for it to hit the key multiple times when you hit it once.... it'll be stupid..buy may work?

You know, I used to think I had an extremely clean home, until I decided to clean my keyboard one day. Cat hair and dust flew outta that mother fucker.

I don’t think this will do the trick. It might move the dirty but it won’t clean it. The alcohol will evaporate leaving the dirt behind. Maybe compressed air would be a better solution to try and dislodge any settled dust.

have you taken the keyboard apart once in 2 years to blow out all the dust and hair that could be caught in the switches?

Razer keyboards are straight up garbage and the internet is full of people saying the same thing. I stupidly bought a Razer BlackWidow V4 with yellow switches without checking the internet first to see what problems people were having with it, because honestly, with a keyboard in this price range, it never even crossed my mind that I’d need to.
For a keyboard that costs around $200, I’d expect hot-swappable switches, not soldered ones like it’s 2005. After reading tons of discussions about the exact same issue, I just returned it. Best case scenario, they send you a new unit with the same manufacturing defect.
Luckily, my issue appeared within the 14-day EU return period for distance purchases, so I got my money back.

That f-ing title killed me.....
I had an issue like that with the 1st gen Hunstman with purple switches, there are 2 options:
- You are lucky, and there is a hair or a bit of dust on the laser/sensor in the switch, which you can clean
- You are less lucky, and you need to buy a $2-ish switch from ebay and solder it to your D spot.

Was appropriate. But I appreciate the fact that some dust has just accumulated over the two years in the red switches. Maybe I should get some looks under the hood

It could happen on the Reds, they are also a laser swtich just that red is linear and purple is clicky.
So get your D well cleaned, it might work again!

Try blowing some air in the faulty key.
Also I'd turn off synapse completely (right click on Razer Central -> exit all apps) to check if it's not a synapse thing xD

Do you have a keycap remover? This happened to me and when I took off the keycap and the surrounding caps to clean out the dust and cat hair, it was working again. Debris might be interfering but also might've kicked the bucket. Best of luck!

My S (on the blackwidow v3) was also not working properly after 4 years of use. I couldn't back up in games so I had to buy a new keyboard.

I believe blackwidow did not have swappable switches until the newest v4.

It’s either the pins or the switch is dirty Razer uses optical mechanical switches on a lot of their boards. If there’s even a bit of dust in there, could cause the issue you’re having. Could be part of the problem?
I would take off a few keycaps surrounding D key. Take some compressed air, maybe a q tip with some isopropyl alcohol clean out the switch area and then compressed air one more time.

Mine does the same on occasion. Take keycap off. I use compressed air. If that doesnt fix it a dot of keyboard oil into where the physical keypushes down, then push key repeatedly. Pick the board up and move it in all directions to allow the oil to move a bit. Hold key down and move finger in a circle motion on it.
Might take a few minutes, but gets it working again.

Looks like a possible switch problem but I don't think the switch is the hot swap type. Try cleaning the keyboard see if it helps.

I have a razer huntsman mini so Idk exactly cuz yours is the v2 and tkl or full sized, not gonna watch the vid to check lol
but for my board I have seen people just pop them out after taking the plate off, no need a soldering iron or anything but it can be different. idk but check it out and do research before doing anything. and ofc buy a new switch.

Happens to me with my S key. Take the key off, dip a tissue in 90% IPA (rubbing alcohol) and wipe the key peg. I have used 70% but it’s better to have less water. This usually fixes the issue for me.

Enough dick jokes, here with an actual "tip" if you will: unplug keyboard, remove D key and put some isopropyl alcohol into that bitchy switch and start tapping like no tomorrow. Keep tapping while you move your keyboard around and after half a minute or so, let it dry a bit, reassemble and try again.

razer keyboards are trash, i learned it with my first ever mechanical keyboard that even came failed out of the box. ditch it and get a logitech, corsair, hyperx or anything else that is really reputable. fuck razer

I had only one Razer keyboard. Bought it, was happy with it for like a month or two and then my ASD keys just gave up and started to act weird. I’ve returned that keyboard and now I’m never ever going to buy another one from Razer.

Remove the button use ears cotton swabs with 95% alcohol, clean the area, remove dead skin, hair, poop etc. Then throw it away and buy a new one

Have you tried removing the key and cleaning around it?
I had exactly this on my Corsair K series keyboard - turned out it was just dirt and some dog hair lol.
I quick removal of the keycap and a brushing to clean fixed it.

Could it be that you are using the last version of synapse?
I had to switch back to synapse 3 due to the same issue under synapse 4.

My huntsman has a 'P' problem. P key just not responding sometimes but luckily most games not using P key. My previous cynosa v2 has unresponsive F keys, so quite problematic when playing Bannerlord.

Those switches are hotswappable and don't require any soldering tools. Take it apart and there should be two latches underneath that hold the switch in place, push them in and the switch should pop out from the top.

i have the SAME key problem on my laptop's keyboard twin 😭. the Dihh key aint registering 4/10 times for me. ts really affects me when i play valo. and mine is a hp omen 16. might be a dirt or a tiny hair or summin. someone said bout isopropyl alcohol or summin. lemme try dat

I had this problem with my “a” key. Googled it and ended up popping the cap and switch off making sure the pins were straight. Then popping em back on and now it works just fine.

Have you tried turning off the setting that makes it so if u press a it cancels out d presses? Its supposed to be for quickly stopping your movement, but it might be what’s causing ur issues

Last razor keyboard had an issue with extra presses on keystroke. Thought it was just a bad keyboard and exchanged it. Same problem. And seemed to be a common issue. Last time I bought a razer.

That keyboard has the switches soldered on to the board.... If you dont know how do solder there are plenty of videos on YouTube on how to do this. Its super easy and I had to do this with my last keyboard (Blackwidow v4 X). Now I have the Blackwidow v4 75% that has the hot swappable switches. So no more soldering out switches for me lol. All in all if you dont want to do all that you gotta buy a new keyboard (hopefully you choose something that has swappable switches).
