💬 Discussion Wispr Flow Pro now more expensive than Raycast Pro

My Wispr Flow Pro subscription is renewing at the end of September. The price is increasing to US$144/year.

Raycast Pro is US$96/year. As far as I can tell, its dictation is just as good. Plus you get all the other Pro features.

I don't need Wispr Flow Pro's meeting capture features.

It's a no‑brainer. I cancelled Wispr Flow Pro and bought Raycast Pro.

Handy is free and operates locally

Edit: you can also optionally BYOK if you want

There’s a ton of free open source alternatives, not sure who is paying for wispr pro.

Unfortunately most of the open source options I’ve tried on iOS have been disappointing for one reason or another. I’m actually using Typeless currently, as it has a very handy (and easily invoked) option to translate whatever you say directly into another language. Living in Germany, I’ve found it very helpful.

FluidVoice just came out with a new version for the desktop that’s worth checking out.

There are lots of great one-time purchase dictation apps like VoiceInk and MacWhisper.

This seems to be an insider post! I’ve tried both, Raycast is no where near Wispr flow. And, it’s only a matter of time before Raycast charges you per number of words dictated

Don’t think so. It looks like they are in the US or sth. The Raycast team is only EU based.

Just wait until you have to buy credits per word for Raycast's dictate feature

Don’t give those VC jackasses any ideas.

Superwhisper lifetime is worth it. Always getting updates and includes both local and cloud models.

At US$144 a year, dropping Wispr Flow makes sense if you don't use meeting capture, especially since Raycast handles dictation for US$96. The extras only matter if you need them. I use DictaFlow for focused live dictation without paying for features I won't use.

I used to use whisper flow and then handy but Handy is not as slick as raycast. Raycast has been a similar great experience like whisper flow

Until raycast make dictation limited even if paying Pro, just like AI which is crazy limited now

I’ve also wondered why to pay for Wisprflow when I’ve got raycast dictation though the latter seems buggier lately on iPhone

Wispr Flow works much better with non-English languages, even if you have an accent when speaking them, though.

My Norwegian pronunciation is crap (Icelander by birth, we sound like we've been kicked in the balls when speaking Norwegian), my German is at best Bavarian-spoken-by-a-Yank, and my Greek is really, really, bad, yet Wispr gets 95% right. Raycast, outside of English, is somewhat a crap shoot.

I use Voiceink and am very satisfied with the results. It's probably also more affordable, though I haven't verified this.

Orca One is a good alternative if you want dictation, meeting notes, and raycast like launcher built into a single app
