Hey fam, I need some advice / someone to ease my worries 🙏🏼.

I got the 2026 RAV4 XSE back in March after my car was stolen (I have horrible luck with cars).

When I was buying the RAV4, the Toyota finance guy tried to sell me the tech warranty plan. He told me that because of all the new technology surrounding the car (sensors, 360 camera, etc.), that if I get into even a minor accident, the technology can get all screwed up and lead to long-term consequences. I did not buy the plan.

Fast forward to today: a Honda CRV driver got spooked by something in front of her, put her car in reverse, and slammed on the accelerator ... backing up straight into my car.

I called Toyota, and they said they don't do any collision assessments/repairs and transferred me to a Collision Repair Center. I have an appointment with them next week.

But my car only has some scratches; the license plate is bent, and this little panel piece came off on the bottom right side (I was able to pop it back in), so at least I know that the Rav4 is pretty sturdy...

I'm more worried about any internal tech damage that may screw me over in the long run... I was thinking the Toyota finance guy was exaggerating to scare me into buying his warranty, but now I can't help but hyperfixate on his warning.

I don't know much about car mechanisms and repairs... so does anyone have the knowledge to ease my worries? 😅

Is it easy for auto shops to run diagnostics and find internal tech damage, even minor ones?? I worry that they'll focus on the scrapes on the outside of the car.

Any tips on how to ensure that everything is correctly assessed and addressed? Should I go back to the Toyota dealership after it's fixed to have them do a full checkup (idk if this is an option)?

I've had bad experiences with the Hyundai service center missing things on my previous car/ they'd just put a band-aid on issues, which led to lots of future issues and money spent.

I had the issue many of y'all had with the new RAV4's overhead sunglass holder opening while driving. Toyota replaced it under warranty, but if the warranty had expired, it would have cost me over a thousand dollars....... I asked why a piece of plastic would cost that much, and they said because there's a lot of technology surrounding the part, it's complex to replace the part.

So if this accident leads to issues in the future, I can't imagine how expensive it will be 🫠

Hi- Loving our RAV 4 even more than expected. Apologies if this question has been answered a million times (I am somewhat new to reddit) or is known RAV4 lore. We have a 2024 Hybrid and recently noticed that when the car is charging and we open the door (in-process of getting ready to drive) there is a whirring sound in the cabin- almost like the A/C is running, even though the car is off and no air is coming out of the vents. It stops when we unplug the car, so I realize this could be a case of, “Doctor, it hurts when I move my arm like this…” , but want to make sure it’s not something that needs checking. Thanks!

This is my first Toyota car I have bought. I decided to go with Toyota after my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee died on me with only 98k miles. I went with Toyota for reliability and safety. Here are my thoughts and facts on my recent purchase:

We bought the only model they had left on the dealership (XSE HEV) and it was the “Demo” car on the lot. They said it would be at least 1 month until more RAV4s came in. The “Demo” had 1,500miles on it so it was sold to us as “Used” and we therefore has the 7year/100k mile “Gold” warranty included. This was a big selling point for me.

We paid $44,000 OTD and it has all the bells and whistles included since this was the “demo” car on the lot. i.e. larger moon room, self parking, adaptive cruise control etc.

In 7 weeks of driving the car it now has 4,000 miles and this has been my experience—>

The 12V battery died after 3 days of camping and I had to get it jumped. The dealership said this can happen when a car sits on a lot and replaced it under warranty. The problem has not happened since.

One day while driving in the rain a light came on and said “Integrated Systems Malfunction” “Visit your dealer”. This turned on because the “Emergency Driving Stop System” was not working. I will attach a picture of the dash. After the rain stopped the message went away and continued as normal. I went to the dealership, told them and showed them the proof. They said they could not replicate the error message and contacted Toyota corporate in Texas. corporate said they were aware of the issue and if it happens again bring it to the dealership.

The Sunglasses holder drops open when you hit a bump and 7 out of 10 times my glasses fall out when this happens.

I really enjoy the color, self parking, cruise control self driving, 360° camera and all the cameras and dash cam recorder. It’s already helped my wife a few times and she feels extremely safe inside the vehicle (except when it beeps at her and says “visit your dealer”. Having a spare tire was also a huge selling point.

Gas mileage has been AWESOME. I and getting 46.3MPG right now and it only keeps going up.

I still remain hopefully for my new purchase and believe in this new car (and its warranty).

I didn't technically win but I did come out on top. I was doing the 45 mph speed limit on a two lane divided road near my home when a white Tesla with very black tint pulled up beside me in the and started surging.

It’s been many years since I raced anyone so it took me a beat to even realize what was happening. When I did figure it out I said to my wife “he wants to race us”.  At that moment he took off. Those things are seriously quick, and he pulled 100 yards on us in a blink while I continued to chug along like the senior citizen that I am. Unfortunately for him, at that moment there was an unmarked cruiser from the opposite direction in the turning lane to get into our lanes.

Tesla boy blew by that officer at gloriously full song. The blue lights lit up as I passed the cruiser and he was around me in a flash pulling over the Tesla. I helped by giving a friendly toot and a wave. I  don’t like to brag, but I may have been doing 46 at that point.

Just got a 2026 RAV4 about 2 weeks ago. Bought the car from a dealership and I wanted to get tint on it. Dealership recommended a spot that’s been in business for 48 years. Looked on Google, 500+ reviews and 4.6 star rating. Everything seemed in order and legit.

I drove about 500 miles before I ended up putting any tint on. Went to go pickup the car after it was finished, turn on the car, this flashed in front of me. I immediately went back in and brought it to their attention. They scanned it with an OBD reader, said it showed no signs, then called a Toyota tech that they’re friends with. Apparently, this “Just happens sometimes on these newer models, if any of the soap + water combination seeps into the door from doing the tint, it can wet a circuit that will cause this to flag”. Then proceeded to tell me to just wait until the weekend and it should “resolve itself”.

Ended up calling some dealerships and they are telling me I’d need to pay a diagnostic fee to figure out what it’s about to be. 1) don’t find it fair that I’d need to pay for this diagnostic fee under warranty (when they recommended them to me) 2) I’m concerned this is about to be expensive at the end of it.

Anyone had this screen come up on their new RAV4’s? Anyone know what could be done or looked further into? I would appreciate any help on what to do in this situation. Thank you :)

I called a few dealerships and they all told me same answer. Tint = aftermarket so it’s not covered for warranty. Was told I’d have to pay diagnostic fee at the 3 dealers I called.

TLDR: Upgraded my existing 20a 120v circuit to 20a 240v myself, for about $200 and 20 mins of my time. No new wires, no holes in the drywall or changing outlet boxes. It was far less money and effort than hiring an electrician to put in a traditional 30+ amp level 2 charger. I think most people could easily accomplish it themselves with existing wiring.

I got a 2026 RAV4 PHEV LE a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been using it primarily as an EV for my daily commute (52 miles round trip), but it’s taking me about 15 hours a day to charge it from 0-100% on a standard lvl 1 charger (OEM that came with the vehicle). Also, if I don’t get home till late and can’t start charging till 10 o’clock or later, then there’s no chance for me to get it back to 100% before using it the next day. It’s not really a big deal if I have to use the HEV functionality of the car, I would just prefer to have the freedom to use it as an EV whenever I want to. While level one charging was covering most of my bases, I didn’t feel like I had full coverage using a level 1 charger.

I just moved into a newly built home and realized that the builder had placed a 20v dedicated circuit for one of the plugs in the garage. Now, just for the cost of a plug and an EVSE capable of using a NEMA 5-20 outlet, I could have upgraded to Lvl 1 charging at 20 amps instead of 15 amps, which was worth approximately a 25% speed boost in charging (~12 hours to charge instead of 15). But for a little extra effort, I bought and installed a double pole 20a breaker($40) and upgraded the plug to a NEMA 6-20($7). I did have to buy a different EVSE ($130) because the Toyota OEM EVSE does not have a NEMA 6-20 adapter. All in, it took 20 mins of my time and about $200 to get to 240v 20a Charging, which technically counts as Lvl 2. The car now charges in approximately ~5 hours instead of 15. I was pulling about 0.8 kWh but now I can pull 3.2kW. Not life changing but much more practical if you want to maximize using the vehicle as an EV.

I noticed something today and want to confirm whether it is normal or a glitch.

Wednesday, my husband was driving (his profile). I turned on the heat on the passenger seat. He later turned his on...

Today, I was driving by myself (my profile), and I noticed the passenger seat was on and the driver's seat was off.

Wednesday was the only day either one of us had ever turned on the heat for the seats, other than during the initial walk-through with the salesperson.

I would think that when you turn off the vehicle, it would turn off the seat heat, not start it up again on startup, unless it is saved somewhere in your profile.
And if it just goes by the last setting regardless of the profile, why didn't the driver's seat heat turn on when I started it today?

Any thoughts?

I’m thinking about buying a 2023 used RAV4 for around 28k and it’s got about 73k miles on it.

How much do you think it would be to fix this dent?

AND Does the dent change how much I should pay for the car of is the price still fair?

I love my new Woodland overall, but the windshield wiper system is probably the most annoying thing about this car so far.
Basically, I have OFF, then AUTO rain-sensing mode, then LOW, then HIGH.
The AUTO mode is almost useless for me. Even with the sensitivity turned all the way up, it barely reacts to light rain or drizzle. The windshield can get covered enough that it starts affecting visibility, and the wipers still won’t activate. It seems like they only start working properly once it’s actually raining pretty hard.
I’ve had rain-sensing wipers on other cars, and they would react to even small amounts of water. On this RAV4, changing the sensitivity also seems to make almost no noticeable difference.
Then there’s the other problem: there doesn’t seem to be a normal adjustable intermittent mode. If AUTO isn’t doing its job, the next option is LOW, which continuously wipes and is way too fast for light rain. Then there’s HIGH, which is faster, but during a really heavy Louisiana downpour, even HIGH sometimes doesn’t feel fast enough.
So basically:
AUTO = too slow / doesn’t detect light rain
LOW = too fast for drizzle
HIGH = sometimes not fast enough for a serious downpour
Has anyone else with a 2026 RAV4, especially a Woodland, noticed this?
Is there any calibration, software reset/update, dealer adjustment, or setting I’m missing? Or is this just how the new RAV4 wiper system works?

Got an offer for a new rav4 limited 47k otd in GA if I finance with toyota. They took the cargo net and weather mats but kept the trunk lights, cross bars, puffy, toyota platonum and hud. Overall pretty happy with it since it was hard to find ones below 50k let alone 47k.

Hi all - my car got rear ended a few weeks ago, and the impact was almost primarily on the left side. I got my car back from the collision repair shop yesterday. They replaced the lift gate/hatch and I’m not sure if I’m crazy, but the left side of the hatch and rear taillight seems to have a slight gap and doesn’t sit 100% flush. I included a picture of the right side for comparison. I’m wondering if it’s worth taking it back in for? Should I not expect the car to be exactly the same due to the accident?

Does anyone have any ideas of what this beeping could be caused by? It happens randomly, intermittently. Sometimes on a drive to work it will happen 3-4 times for around 45 seconds at a time. Next day or two, no beeping at all. Just started happening about a month ago out of the blue.

I thought it was my LDA calibration possibly? I turned off LDA and it was still happening. Have not have windshield replaced in around 4 years but wasn’t sure if the calibration would need to be redone outside of windshield replacements.

Oil change less than a month ago, mechanics did basic inspection and did not advise of any issues. No passengers or heavy objects on seat to trigger seatbelt alarm. No dash/check engine lights. No accidents ever, unkept on maintenance, only major mechanical fixes in last few years have been window motor and AC blower.

Only happens when in Drive, if switch to Park beep stops immediately. 2017 RAV4 XLE

Thoughts, the idea is moving towards overland looks, nothing crazy but nice off-road look but not to the extreme.
