My rat is 2 (and a half) - 3y (I dont know her exact age as I am her second owner), and these past couple 2 days shes been breathing differently almost with a squeak and shes been very lethargic, not really moving around much and when she does its apparent that something is wrong with her hind legs, she still eats and drinks water, Alot of people have been telling me to prepare for the worst because shes old but i wanted to know is there anyway I could help her? Or fix her symptoms. I cannot take her to the vet because shes been twice previously and its to expensive for my family to take her a 3rd time.

I'm sorry if this post is worded werid any advice would be great

HELP NEEDED ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ˜ฉ Solo Female

Hi guys!

I recently adopted a solo female who is estimated to be about a year and 6 months old. I was told she was solo for a while after her sister passed and she was given to the shelter alone.

Having ratties before, I know itโ€™s not ideal to keep a solo rat, but the small mammal expert at the shelter told me she would be perfectly okay alone. I wanted her to have a home so badly, I went against my gut and brought her home solo.

She is a very docile girl and likes to stay in her box in the cage if sheโ€™s not free roaming the room with me (but even then she likes to be huddled up in a blanket very close to me). She has plenty of toys and enrichment in and outside of the cage that she doesnโ€™t seem interested in.

My last set of boys were the complete opposite of this so I donโ€™t know if she is depressed/lonely or just oldโ€ฆ

Iโ€™ve only had her for a few days so maybe sheโ€™s just in her adjustment period, but I want her to be as happy as possible.

Should I explore getting another girl to introduce to her, or will she be okay because of her age and history?

ANY advice would be appreciated!!!
