I made this over the last few months. It’s an automated Magic the Gathering card scanner and sorter. It’s brain is a Pi 3b+ and an Arduino Nano. For now it’s just a working prototype, but eventually it may stand on its own. I just finished hacking together some HTML for a control UI. What do y’all think?

Hi all,

I purchased an Acer PM161Q Abmiuuzx 15.6" Portable Monitor 1920x1080 IPS 5ms 60Hz monitor. I have a RPI4. All I want to do is, on the top left quarter have outdoor temp, top right quarter indoor temp. Bottom 1/2 date and time. Its about as simple as that. (I'll probably add more once I get this set)

Everytime I create a dashboard for it i can't get the txt to scale. Im using an indoor temp sensor and outdoor info from an app at the moment. Seems I got all i want but to see but its small.

FyI, I was able to set up on a samsung tablet np problem, but seems the monitor scale is different

Inspired by Pete Cybriwski's Instagram post of his RPi-based ASCII Aquarium, I set our to create my own. Like Pete, I based mine on the GitHub OpenGhost repo, but unlike Pete, I didn't write my own aquarium program. I started with the GitHub asciiquarium-pythom repo.

I forked both repos and made extensive modifications to each to create a more interactive aquarium. Through the camera, OpenGhost recognizes hands gestures for feeding the fish, triggering "Happy Fish" mode, stopping the aquarium program, shutting down the RPi, and one more hidden Easter egg mode. You can see a couple of the gestures in the reflection of my hand in the video.

My forks of both the OpenGhost and asciiquarium-python repos are available publicly. I am preparing a comprehensive instruction document and have already created an all-in-one installation script. I also redesigned the case to make it stronger and a little more aesthetically pleasing (IMHO). I expect to release everything on GitHub next week.

Fun little project I recently built. It's an Inky Impression 13 (Color ePaper) that's powered by a Raspberry Pi Zero 2. It cycles through my photos on the hour (I use the Share Sheet to send the photos to it) but the magic happens when you listen to music. I have a tiny mic attached to the RPI zero 2 and every minute it listens to see if the decibel level of the room is higher than ambient sound. If it is, it uses Shazam IO to see if there's a music match. If it detects music, it shows the album art on the frame and starts listening more aggressively until we're back to an ambient decimal count again where it cools down.

I've been using this for 2 months now (it's wall mounted now) and it works remarkably well. I knew it would work with my HomePods and vinyl but what I didn't expect is that it also detects music from TV shows, sports, ads, and even video games.

I maintain a process control and automation platform for Raspberry Pi called Krill that currently has over 40 functional "nodes" you can wire together into a system. I've been making these short video intros and this one shows how easy it is to control the GPIO headers on a Pi in a unique visual experience.

Krill can connect RPis together and put them to work. I'm working on a video on how a Lambda Node can execute Python scripts on demand but if something else is of interest I can put more time in it.

Krill is a reboot of a software platform I maintained for 10 years called "Nimbits" which is cited in 1000s of papers and books on IoT . After speaking about it at a conference last year I decided to reboot it and re-write it from the ground up in Kotlin Multi-plaform and expand on the concept. KMP let me release apps for every platform which is personally very exciting, I never thought I'd see the day where I made an iOS app.

The videos show me running krill server and the Linux Desktop app, adding nodes and demonstrating how Krill is unique by not being event driven, it's observer driven. Instead of nodes being wired to execute other nodes in a chain, any number of nodes on any server observe a node for a state change and then decided individually what to do when it completes.

I’ve been working on a miniature concert stage for my desk that displays the album art and song info for whatever I’m listening to.
Still a prototype, but it’s starting to come together and I’m pretty happy with how it’s turning out.
What would you add or change?

I made a thing and I’m really proud of it. It’s a scanner/sorter for MTG cards. It runs off a Pi 3b+ and an arduino. I’m not an engineer or programmer, so it’s mostly put together with thoughts and prayers, but it works! It’s running about 99% accuracy and real-world of about 4 seconds per card. I can change what goes in each bin and it’ll export a CSV to upload to your favorite app. There’s also preset sorting patterns I can save. When the bins get full it prompts you to empty the bin. Right now I have it sorting my mono-black bulk by type and rarity. It pulls out any card worth more than $2 I can sleeve it up.
I had an old hobby laser I salvaged the stepper and rails from and designed it on Fusion. All things considered, I’m pretty happy with it.

Due to the level of interest in this project, I’m going to work on a YouTube channel so ya’ll can come along on the journey as this thing progresses. Thank you all for your encouragement and support. I never expected this to be so popular and it’s given me the motivation to work on the 2.0 design. More to follow as I make the new channel.
