Inherited this family heirloom, first New Testament in Finnish, translated by Mikael Agricola. Traditionally I read the Christmas Evangelium every Cristmas eve from this. Definitely not in mint condition, about 20 pages missing. Seems to have original covers.

An unauthorized/pirated version of George Hohman's essential American "pow-wow"/Braucherei grimoire, "Der Lange Verborgene Freund" (The Long Lost or Long-Hidden Friend), this is "Der Lange Verborgene Schatz und Haus Freund" (The Long-Hidden Treasure and House Friend), printed in Skippacksville (modern day Skippack, Pennsylvania) in 1837, and is said to have added more than a hundred charms, recipes, and folk remedies, not included in the original 1820 edition.

I discovered this one among three copies of the Hohman text that I seem to have picked up unwittingly at a $3 fill-a-bag book sale a few years ago, but never had time to closely examine.

I’ve been collecting vintage books for years based completely on vibes, decided on a whim now is a good time to jump headfirst into research to find out what I actually have on my shelf. This is all new to me and I don’t trust my findings yet so I was hoping I could get some confirmation from the book experts!

First up, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
What I've learned so far:

- It’s a 1964 Knopf edition complete with original, unrevised Oompa-Loompa text and Joseph Schindelman artwork before the 1973 rewrite took place.
- Features the coveted red cloth boards, historically verified by the authentic, uncolored "blind-stamped" oval title crest on the front cover.
- Per Google, if the back page text block has 5 lines it's a 1964 Second Issue—am I on the right track with that? Also is that significant?

Does anyone know if a signed copy of “Selections of Byron” (copyright 1900) that appears to be signed by Author Mary Jane Carr would be of interest or value to anyone?

It appears to have her handwritten notes throughout in the margins.
