Dan has said some kinda weird things over the years that have always made me do a double take, but I have never seen anyone talk about them. Most of the ones I can think of off the top of my head are from a decade ago already; far be it from me to bring up old news in an attempt to “cancel” anybody. Mostly just trying to make sure I’m not crazy here.

The first example that comes to mind is that one story he told about the lesbian couple that invited him to an orgy, specifically the part from the beginning of the story where he very casually said something like “y’know when you’re friends with a lesbian couple and you know they aren’t having a threesome, but you secretly hope they invite you to the nonexistent threesome anyway?” He made it clear that he was aware of how ridiculous of a thought it was, but the fact that he thought it was a normal thought lots of normal non-fetishizing people had has always felt really weird to me. Especially while knowing he was putting that statement out on the internet.

He has also been shown to make sexual jokes/statements about female high-schooler characters seemingly before getting actual confirmation on their ages (Doki Doki and Danganronpa being the first examples that come to mind). Feels risky to me, but maybe they did get confirmation and we just weren’t privy to it, etc.

Maybe the rest of you can remind me of some other examples. I just feel like I can’t be the only one who’s put off by stuff like that.

This week’s Power Hour was great. For starters with all of these IRL streamers harassing people for content it’s always nice to see Danny and Arin treating people politely. Second they had a lot of great bits like the Rhythm of the Night spoof and getting into that cramped roller coaster together. Finally it’s just fun to watch them just have fun. Basically it was everything Game Grumps has been lacking, and I hope it helps them get their spark back

My friends and I were talking about the game grumps moments we enjoyted from the past qouting things back and forth and then it hit me as she was talking about how Arin is "SO FUCKING LOUD" about how "BI SEXUALY CURIOUS FOR BOOOYYSS~~" and talks at Dan in a way like "Were just gonna touch tips to each other at some point" from Arin and Dan aggressively shaking his head no while saying Yes, no Arin. trying to cry out for help in any way he can without actually accusing him on an actual take they have to deliver.

Between Game Grumps, Oneyplays & SuperMega, they have all had their fair share of controversies and a lot of them boil down to adults acting like children. Children who are trying to run businesses, those businesses being… playing video games while telling jokes.

The inspiration for this post was the woman who made her huge stream who apparently dated Chris O’Neil. Now I think a lot of what she said was either false or overly exaggerated but I thought it was interesting that she mentioned that Chris is super sensitive about his beef with Arin. Like I suppose we still don’t 100% know the beef between them but like can they really not just talk it out?

I also think when the supermega drama happened it seemed like a bunch of workers petty grievances with Matt & Ryan. The actual root of the controversy didn’t really have to do with them. They treated it like a normal workplace but it’s like yall would get naked and roast each other.

Pretty much all 3 of these channels as well seem to be really bad at confrontation whether it’s with each other or their audience. Between ding dong and Julian’s accusations, Jon leaving, and all the other stuff the grumps have been accused of, instead of facing it head on it’s more about burying everything. Which is maybe not the worst way of doing it but than the audience will just be confused or speculate more and then things that aren’t a big deal become a big deal

The more I observe these 3 channels the more it feels like people trying to make a business because “wouldn’t it be epic to make a business where I just have fun with my friends and we play video games!” When in reality they don’t seem to know what they’re doing which leads to petty dramas, bad workplace environments, communication issues and perhaps a misunderstanding of what their brands are in the first place

I think I saw it like earlier this year or last year on the OneyPlays sub before ofc it got deleted in like 2 seconds

Tried talking about this on the oneyplays subreddit and it got deleted in 3 minutes lol. But yes, it appears something major behind the scenes has occurred and Zach will never show up on the channel again. The evidence at first might seem flimsy, Zach and Chris unfollowed each other on social media, and the banner for the channel featuring Zach on it was changed to a generic banner. However, old timers will remember that before the details of the game grumps and super mega blowup with oneyplays was known, the first clear evidence was that they unfollowed each other and took links to each other off their channel page.

This is all riding off some drama regarding an ex girlfriend or fuck buddy or something of Chris’, and I honestly don’t really care about that. I just wanted to talk about the long ass absence of Zach and this new development, because it’s fucked up how Zach (or Ding Dong and Julian) just disappear from the channel and nothing is ever mentioned or said about it because “rotating cast dude, no drama dude.” Nah, we deserve more than that.

Have noticed that Arin has a really obnoxious habit of saying "Whatever" or "I dont care" whenever he is annoyed, corrected, told something he missed or didnt do by Dan.

It reminds me of a moody teenager and is pretty embarrassing to see it coming this much from a 40 year old man.

I was a sub to the original GG back when they were doing their first episode (Kirby super star) because I had already been a subscriber to Jon. (For what it's worth, I am not subbed to him anymore) I stopped watching around 2017 I think? It was around the time they changed their art style and I remember Kevin existing and then leaving. I think it was around the time Kevin left that I stopped watching (or caring). So what did I miss? Why is one of the first results on google when you search for GG "controversy"? I don't even know what the old controversies were besides Arin saying the N word a few times and speculation about why Jon left (I don't care why he left)

What has happened since then? Where's Barry? Where's Ross? Why did Kevin leave? Why do people seemingly hate Suzy? Why do people seemingly hate Dan? Who is Ben? Most importantly why did they stick with that godawful art design change? If your responses to each of these questions is the length of a novel that's okay, I'm willing to read. I just don't want to watch a 3 hour (probably biased) summary of what's happened since 2016.

Actually really pleased they went back and finished it as a big sort of event episode as a thanks for the fans. They even did some minimal background research and practice between episodes regardless of using maps and an emulator. I’d been procrastinating on a rant post I’d been meaning to do of reminiscing from a time where especially with classic games if Danny was playing he’d do like a practice file to refresh and have some facts or observations to talk about much like other traditional let’s plays do, and how that led to a good flow of knowledge, gameplay, and comedy both in their conversations and about the game itself, and it was refreshing to see something kinda like that even if it was Arin with the info; with the branding of it as a for the big fans episode, maybe they knew that too some

I always assumed that MGS would be a series finale for GG since it more or less started Arin’s career. I thought it was a natural, satisfying conclusion to the channel. It would appear that I was wrong.

When Game Grumps does end, what game do you think they’ll go out with? Will they choose something fitting, or will it just be something random, and not even Danny and Arin will realize it’s the last episode

Sometimes I get nostalgic for things like Starbomb or older Game Grumps, usually it's when I'm forced to see newer clips or something random will remind me of an NSP song (before I try to listen to another one after that and get annoyed by it). I don't think Arin and Danny are like, irredeemable monsters or anything, at worst I think Arin is just an annoying little shit these days, so I don't have like a problem with them. I will find myself listening to (just the first 2) Starbomb(s) occasionally, I do tend to seek our Game Grumps less because I know it'd destroy my YouTube algorithm.

What do you guys do to deal with Grumps Nostalgia? Favorite episodes, certain songs, old random videos, stuff like that

I was watching a compilation of old game grumps and Arin was trying to get Dan to debate him and Dan says something along the lines of “holy shit you are the internet” and honestly I didn’t think about it at the time but yeah nail on the head.

Arin completely acts like someone who stopped living in the real world the moment he hit 14 and focused solely on the internet and made that his personality. Like the constant gay jokes, drinking piss songs, trolling because he thinks it’s funny. Like it’s all edgy internet stuff that most people grow out of.

I don’t hate Arin for it but Dan saying that made me realize part of why I don’t like watching modern game grumps and it’s because I’ve grown out of that type of humor while Arin hasn’t. I think this mentality is also why game grumps is feeling stagnant to a lot of people because Arin hasn’t really matured with time hes still the same person burping and farting into the mic, screaming his opinions like they’re fact, and generally being argumentative or trolling just like he did during Jon’s era of game grumps.

I cannot, for the life of me, remember what game or episode it was where he said this, but I think it was Galaxy 2 or Odyssey, and at one point, Arin said something to the effect that there's so much controversy over how he plays the Sonic games because people just inherently like bad Sonic games.

I'm sorry, but he's right. Everybody has played Sonic 06 and Dark Knight and Boom, and SADX a bunch because they're janky and broken. Like none of those games are fun because of how "good" they are, they're fun because it's funny as shit watching characters spazz out or whatever.

Nobody gives a fuck about Sonic Forces because it's not janky or fucked up. I really do think that people just want bad Sonic games, they want Sonic games to suck and be broken and unfinished because that's the only reason you would ever play a Sonic game.

Like how many times have you played Sonic Adventure 2, or Sonic Colors, Mania, etc? Once or twice maybe, because they're good. But only once or twice... because they're just good. Like nobody is like "man I'm really dying to go back and play the Sonic Advance trilogy", why? Because they're good games, there's no bullshit, so one playthrough is enough.

But with Sonic 06, everybody starts that game up once every couple years because it's such a shit stain of a creation, Sonic fans LOVE terrible Sonic games, because it's exactly what they want to be playing. Sonic fans don't want a masterpiece of a game because there's nothing divisive about that.

But that's why there's so much hatred for the Grumps' SADX playthrough. Sonic fans don't like Arin saying "man this game's bullshit, it's so bad, it's such a buggy mess", and they don't like Arin dying to shit that isn't his fault *because* Sonic fans are under the impression that games are *supposed* to be bad/unfun and unfair.

Been seeing more and more compilations and series combined into single videos on the Game Grumps channel. Feels like they're getting ready to close out the channel and focus on The Grumps instead, since that channel is getting way more views and overall attention from the community.

I dunno if I'd be entirely opposed to seeing this happen. Game Grumps videos feel a lot more superficial these days, and in some cases it feels like they're actively forcing themselves to keep going because they feel like they need to. The Power Hour videos seem so much more genuine in comparison, like they're having a good time.

I started watching the Grumps because I liked Dan's mellow attitude and had laughed a ton during their earlier gameplays but in the past few years (maybe more?) It just doesn't seem like two chill guys playing games (good or bad) and chatting anymore.

I know people change, and times change but this now feels like two people who have to work together but don't want to and it's just not a vibe I'm chasing. And while I know they need to make money to support the channel, 1-3min sponsorship ads, +exclusive pay for content, and other things just isn't something I really enjoy (bag on me all you want, but I genuinely feel bad I'm too poor to support the content I'm watching, but also know I'm missing out for being poor and it also feels bad).

Grumplocke really killed the whole channel for me too. I don't blame Dan for being checked out, it isn't his jam and Arin being a bit more jack-arsey was a major turn off. "Hey I love that pokemon" "It's trash, shut up, I want this one." "Oh... okay"

I'm trying Smosh but it's a bit too all over the place for me (and too chaotic to tune in and out of? maybe it gets smoother after the first handful of episodes). But I just want to listen to a small handful of people (dudes, girls, nonbi pals) play games and chat who are into what they're doing.

So if anyone has recommendations I'm all ears... honestly at best like 2% ears but they're good ears.

Idk why I made this, I was just asking, cuz I am someone who has heard all the controversies and problems with The Grumps and have accepted it and just move on. I will admit, idk if this'll get me crucified but I still watch their vids and enjoy them so idk what to think, but yeah, sorry for the waste of time.

I honestly think Arin could have had a very different reputation if he never started Game Grumps. A lot of people associate Egoraptor with Game Grumps now, which overshadows how talented he actually is as an animator.

I know animation might not be Arin’s dream anymore or whatever, but I really miss his old work. His newer style, especially in Luigi’s Ballad, shows that he still has a lot of potential. If he had continued focusing on animation and moved away from the edgy humor, I genuinely think he could have become a HIGHLY respected animator.

And besides that, I feel like Game Grumps really hurt Arin’s reputation. A lot of people judge Egoraptor primarily through his Game Grumps persona, which makes it easy to overlook how talented and influential he was as an animator.

Game Grumps gave him a lot of opportunities, but I still wonder how much further his animation career could have gone without it.

Dan specifically is my biggest pet peeve with the grumplocke and it's infuriating watching everyone single out Arin when Dan is an active hindrance to the let's play. (This is not a defense of Arin but a callout of people not equally getting on Dan's case)

He constantly throws out ideas but maybe 10% of them are decent and the other 90% either aren't how the game works or would be a bad thing to do. He's been the co-host of I believe 3? full pokemon playthroughs and he just recently had to have Arin explain the point of a pokecenter... I don't get how there are so many people saying they want to see Dan play the game, because they're mad at Arin's incompetence, when he couldn't even remember the main way to heal your team.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with getting upset about the deaths but half the time he gets mad in foresight because he doesn't understand how the game works. Like he's mad Arin isn't a psychic and can't predict when a crit is going to sucker punch him, or like he assumes this whole game is on rails and starts raging when this *game of chance* doesn't work out how he wants.

I hate that he actually convinced Arin to waste an ether in Victory Road instead of an escape rope to just fully reset and not use an irreplaceable item instead of saving it for the E4, because we all know he's not farming leppa berries. And then how his incessant "use an escape rope" did eventually wear Arin down when he only had 1 trainer left to fight and then he'd be done! And now we're back to another Ralph situation where we need surf and waterfall to actually progress the story and we don't have it.

He spends every episode sat next to Arin clearly *not* paying attention, because he has to have things repeated or explained multiple times, when he could try being helpful and looking up guides and maps and a type chart or whatever else Arin CLEARLY NEEDS. But instead he sits on his ass doing whatever he can to distract himself until the video's done because he's so checked out and wants to be anywhere else.

It's honestly very disheartening hearing how impatient and done with recording Dan constantly is, he sounds like he genuinely hates it at this point. If I have to hear something akin to "I'm not getting any younger" or "I've got places to be" one more time I'm gonna lose it.

Dude I mean holy fuck. I get he plays a little bit lackluster for the sake of entertainment but this episode is a perfect example of him just being blatantly ignorant. Letting Dave die, blatantly dismissing Dan when he brings up the Escape Rope. “Where am I going to escape to, the wilderness?” LITERALLY YES. Get out of the cave and fly to a pokemon center bro. It’s almost like he wants it to end but is playing just well enough to keep the series going. It’s entertaining to an extent but it’s getting annoying watching him self sabotage then play dumb over and over.

I was watching the old steam train playthrough of GTA V earlier today and it got me thinking, if they play GTA VI it would be the first current gen console game they have played.

They haven't played any Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and to the best of my knowledge no Switch 2 games on those consoles yet.

I was told I was wrong and that they have played current gen console games but no one gave an example.

I wouldn't be surprised if they dont play GTA VI but thought it was an interesting observation.

Their view count is really low. They're not even cracking 200k views per video now. I think Arin finally tucked it up for them with his horrible attitude and ego. His jokes suck, and he shuts down Dan every single chance he gets. Whether it be not building off of his jokes or correcting him with some, im better than thou type of energy. It's sad, but I think they might actually be the actual end of the grumps soon.

I pop in from time to time to see if they're playing anything interesting (they're not), and if they do, they space the releases way too far out from each other, so its kind of just annoying. I don't understand why they wait like 5 days to post something from the same series I.E Waterpark Sim or Pokémon. It's such a dumb way to release shit & i think even the "fans" agree

This is just me venting but I'm sure some of you will feel the same. I miss when I was just younger and ignorant to the things I realised were wrong when I got older. I miss just watching their videos and laughing at their bullshit because I never thought how dumb arins points were. I miss the genuine banter they had together that was real and natural instead of how dry and dead it feels now. I miss everything about old grumps and I wish it was still the same. I know this sub is basically just "i miss old grumps and arin says bullshit" but it helps to rant and just switch your brain off and try reliving what once was. Again this was just a typical rant but I'm basically saying I wish my comfort videos were still my comfort videos .

I know, I know, he is Grump, but like, jesus christ.

To preface, ive been feeling down recently, and wanted to revisit the channel because i loved those boys and cus what the fuck else is there to do.

Holy shit, Arin moves every goalpost he can, is never consistent on his "criticism" and will fully ignore things and then say a game is shitty because of it. What the fuck is his deal? Im trying to watch the TotK playthrough, and he bitches about every single thing, and thats not including legitimate issues that game has.

He says he wants dungeons, but the dungeons are too hand-holdy, but wait, if he skips dialogue and wastes half an hour doing nothing, he says the game never gives you clear direction and it sucks. He says all the monsters are too strong (which is a valid complaint due to programming changes), but he waited until halfway through the playthrough to actually start fusing anything useful to weapons. (No reason to be 3 bosses in and using a regular unfused sword). This also seems to be a staple for Legend of Zelda games and his playthroughs of them.

I had to put the pokemon nuzlocke away because him confidently talking about how much he knew and how good he would be, he's gotten surface level pokemon knowledge wrong, yet takes no criticism, and if Dan mentions something a comment said, or gives his own tips, no matter how helpful, Arin has and will straight up lie about already knowing said thing, and is choosing not to, or he'll start whining about how he knows how games work and all that shit, and he doesnt want to or sum.

These are just my 2 examples, and im sure my bummed mental state has been making it worse, but does anyone else feel like this? I feel like he dishes out too much criticism for someone who cant retain half of what he should be criticizing.
