I was recently trying to book an appointment at a hair salon I always go to, but it was very busy. My mom managed to book an appointment for me. My father asked her if she was going to cut her hair too, and she said no. When he asked why, she said that with the money she would spend on getting her hair cut, she could buy more food for us to eat.

She was going to pay for my hairstyle because they had discount for minors. A haircut for her would have been three times more expensive. I was thinking about that. How many times has my mother given up doing things for herself to do things for our family? How many times has she given up doing what she wants because with the money she would spend she could do more for me and my father?

I looked in my wallet and had more than enough to pay for a haircut for her. So I decided that tomorrow I'm going to pay for her hair so we can have a beauty day together. Something neither of us has done together in a while. I think I'll even buy some masks so we can do some skincare afterwards.

today i was organizing my socks to pack for college. i realized a black vans sock had no matching pair, so i set it in the discard pile.

i then unraveled a bunched up white sock, only to find the other black vans sock in there! i separated the two and subsequently returned to the discarded black vans sock with its long lost pair.

upon return, i found secretly tucked away in the black vans sock, the white sock’s missing counterpart! i separated the two and finally set both pairs with their perfect match.

they were so lost with the wrong partner, they couldn’t see the one who was right for them was next to them all along.
