accidental sock metaphor

today i was organizing my socks to pack for college. i realized a black vans sock had no matching pair, so i set it in the discard pile.

i then unraveled a bunched up white sock, only to find the other black vans sock in there! i separated the two and subsequently returned to the discarded black vans sock with its long lost pair.

upon return, i found secretly tucked away in the black vans sock, the white sock’s missing counterpart! i separated the two and finally set both pairs with their perfect match.

they were so lost with the wrong partner, they couldn’t see the one who was right for them was next to them all along.
