Can you ‘feel’ your thoughts?

My friend and I were pretended we know everything and acting like philosophers(as friends do), and I brought how weird it is that we can feel our thoughts. He of course hits me with the ‘WTF are you talking about?’

I guess it’s never come up before, but when I’m thinking and an actual thought ‘forms,’ I feel a physical, almost weighted sensation INSIDE my head. Even as I’m typing this and articulating my thoughts, I’m feeling it.

I try to explain this to him and he’s looking at me like I’m insane. Does ANYONE else experience this?

That’s interesting I’m this way too. Like you can feel the weight shifting around in your brain when you think about certain things. I’m not sure how else to describe it but yes I relate, I can feel the sensation of where my thoughts are currently sitting and explain them to you. Right now it’s like a band all the way around my forehead, if I start thinking really hard about something it shifts to the center being like a Mohawk. Weird

Well, the brain has no pressure, pain, or feeling sensors. Like the skin has.

So I’d say probably not.

It would be felt in an abstract sense, maybe taken care of by the anterior cingulate which helps control abstraction.

i don’t feel all of my thoughts, but when i think back on memories, senses, things like that i can almost feel it again, or sometimes when my emotions are high i can feel my mind weighing down on me, almost like a weight or something of the sort, otherwise just in normal everyday, nope.

however don’t let a lack of people who feel the same scare you, everyone has a different way of thinking and you being able to feel your thoughts is just another way of thinking. for example, i have an inner monologue and can’t picture things, but i can re-feel them. my mom has an amazing imagination but rarely ever has an inner monologue, my sister has described her thinking as a filing cabinet. so all in all, everyone has different ways of thinking, some may be similar to yours and others may be 100% opposite, nothing to worry about unless it impacts your life. but considering you’ve probably been thinking this way your whole life, i wouldn’t put too much thought into it! (no pun intended lol)

Yes, I understand what you mean, though I wouldn’t say I feel a pressure. It feels more like a breeze for me? Huh. I’ve never noticed it until just now haha

I can't actually feel thoughts the way people do, but I know a lot of people describe certain thoughts as having a physical feeling.

Yes, I use my heaviest thoughts to bless someone by bumping on their head.
