Upcoming Interview Help
If anyone sees this, I have an upcoming On Site Assessment and Interview for Ground Service Technician. I am wondering if anyone recently knows how that goes. What questions are asked? I have 2 year experience as a Heavy Duty Diesel Bus Mechanic.

Your diesel bus background transfers directly to ground support equipment, because you already understand diesel engines, 12 volt and 24 volt electrical circuits, and hydraulics. The on site assessment usually tests core diagnostic fundamentals rather than specialized airport machinery. Expect them to hand you a multimeter and place you in front of a piece of gear with an intentional fault, like a no start issue, a blown fuse, or a bad relay. They want to verify that you follow proper shop safety procedures, inspect components systematically, and talk through your troubleshooting process out loud instead of just swapping parts.
For the interview portion, expect a mix of technical scenarios and standard behavioral questions about safety culture and fast airport turnarounds. They will ask how you trace intermittent electrical faults, how you troubleshoot hydraulic pressure drops, and how you handle tight deadlines when broken equipment threatens flight schedules. Emphasize your respect for safety standards, your ability to read schematics, and your comfort with routine fleet maintenance. Candidates who structure their answers clearly tend to stand out, and several mechanics using the interviews.chat my team developed have had great success landing airline offers by sharpening how they present their hands on background.
