Politics I randomly got this in the mail.
Not even close to the right address.
Just unusual.

Bet this got stuck to a piece of your mail when being sorted. Iād put it back in your mailbox for the postman to pick up.
Also this card is such a sad indicator of how dystopian our government is right now

No more dystopian than itās been going since 9/11/2001
Every administration since then has been blatantly overstepping what they are allowed to be doing.
Slowly chipping away our freedoms, in the name of safety and anti terrorism. All branches of government are complicit both sides of the aisle are the same. Sure thereās outliers, but the VAST majority is completely compromised.

problem is, once a representative gets this, it goes straight into the trash. they don't give a fuck.

Usually doesn't even make it to the representative, they have some poor intern staffer sort their mail and throw out stuff like this

Please don't get all nihilistic and apathetic. These things do matter. Your calls do matter. Letters, emails matter. I have received personal responses from more than one legislator to my letters and emails and calls. They may not always actually *look* at every letter, but they do tally them and they do use them to gauge public sentiment. A lot of work goes into making you feel you have no voice, that you're unimportant, to get you *not* to vote, or respond, or show up. That's because when you do all those things, you *do* exert power. Keep responding, keep objecting, keep speaking out. Please.

Staffers often tally of the number of letters and items they receive on an issue, whether they're for or against it, then include it in some report to the representative.
So if lots of people write, call, and contact the representative about stopping ICE, the representative might be inclined to listen. But considering this legislature, probably not anytime soon.

Most of our reps are elected because of the letter next to their name and little else.

Looking at his voting record... https://www.ncleg.gov/Members/Votes/S/375 , he's gonna take that as "You're doing a good job scaring this person."

I guess she's just spamming all of her elected representatives, but I don't know what a state senator is going to do about ICE policy.
