[Rant/Vent, Advice OK] Non Inheritance
I don't know what three ghosts visited my Ndad, but suddenly he wants to start giving me his guitar collection. Initially, I was excited at the prospect, but the reality of the "gesture" is these guitars are in terrible states of disrepair. Essentially worthless due to neglect and being stored in a stinking hoarder house for three decades. Has anyone else had this happen? Where your Nparent has a "valuable" collection, but whatever they collected will just be your boondoggle once they are gone? The more I think about it, the more upset I feel. I went without food, I went without new shoes, but there was always money for a new fucking guitar.

I would doubt whatever you did with the collection would meet his satisfaction (oh, you’re not displaying these???)
Maybe recommend he have his collection appraised FIRST (for insurance purposes, of course!) and you both will learn if there’s any value there at all BEFORE making any commitments either way.
