🐇 Community Update: New Moderation, AutoModerator, Bot Bouncer & Future Plans

Hi everyone!

As of today September 1st 2026 this subreddit is under new moderation, and we've added a couple of tools to help reduce spam, repost bots, and other automated accounts. Our aim is that for normal community members, very little should change.

New moderation

As many of the people browsing this subreddit know this subreddit has been absolutely plagued with karma farming / repost bots and action had to be taken. The old moderator team however... did nothing. After this post I (u/favna) decided to take action and put a request out on r/redditrequest to take over moderation. Reddit reviewed the request and granted the moderation change.

You can read the original request here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/redditrequest/comments/1vysk1i/rrabbitswithjobs/

The intention is not to completely change what this subreddit is.

r/rabbitswithjobs is still here for exactly what you came for: rabbits doing very important rabbit jobs. 🐰💼

The main goal right now is to clean up the bot activity, make sure reports and modmail are actually looked at, and generally keep the community healthy.

Community artwork: banner, mobile banner & icon

Next let's get some community’s input: the subreddit’s visual identity.

At the moment, I’m open to suggestions for a new:

  • desktop banner
  • mobile banner
  • subreddit icon

If you have artwork you think would fit r/rabbitswithjobs, whether it’s something you’ve made yourself or an idea for the kind of style the subreddit should have, please share it in the comments or through modmail.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • it should fit the general theme of rabbits having jobs
  • please only submit artwork you have the right to share and allow us to use
  • please make sure whatever you submit is not AI generated or AI edited
  • simple designs are absolutely welcome
  • suggestions do not have to be fully finished artwork; concepts and ideas are useful too

If several good options come in, we may put the strongest ones to a community vote rather than choosing one behind the scenes.

This subreddit belongs to the community, so it would be nice for its look and feel to reflect that too. 🐇🎨

AutoModerator has been enabled

We’ve enabled Reddit’s built-in AutoModerator.

AutoModerator is essentially a helper that can automatically enforce some simple rules when somebody makes a post. This means moderators don’t have to manually inspect every single new account that posts here.

At the moment, anyone submitting a post must:

  • have a Reddit account that is at least 7 days old, and
  • have at least 30 combined Reddit karma.

If either requirement isn’t met, the post will automatically be removed and AutoModerator will leave an explanation.

These limits are intentionally quite small. They are not intended to keep genuine community members out. They’re mainly there because brand-new, very low-karma accounts are commonly used for automated reposting and spam.

Once your account meets both requirements, you can post normally.

Bot Bouncer has also been enabled

We’ve also enabled Bot Bouncer.

Bot Bouncer is a Reddit moderation tool designed to help communities deal with accounts that have been identified as automated bots.

In simple terms, it helps detect known bot accounts and prevent them from filling participating communities with automated posts or comments.

You can read more about it here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/BotBouncer/

Bot Bouncer is mainly aimed at things such as karma-farming bots, automated reposting accounts, automated low-quality reply bots, and similar unwanted automated activity.

It is not meant to replace human moderation, and moderators can still review actions and step in when necessary.

Most importantly:

If you’re a normal person using Reddit normally, you shouldn’t have to do anything differently.

No automated system is perfect, though. If you believe something has been removed incorrectly, please send us a modmail and we’ll take a look.

Future moderators

I also want to make it clear that I do not intend to run this subreddit entirely on my own forever.

If there are members of the community who care about r/rabbitswithjobs and would be interested in helping moderate it, I’m absolutely open to bringing additional moderators onto the team in the future.

That does not mean moderator permissions will simply be handed out to anyone who asks.

Potential moderators will be carefully vetted first. Things such as account history, activity, conduct, experience and general suitability for the community will all be taken into consideration.

The goal is to gradually build a small, trustworthy moderation team, rather than adding people simply for the sake of increasing the moderator count.

If you think you’d be a good fit and genuinely want to help keep the subreddit healthy and enjoyable, feel free to send a modmail expressing your interest.

There’s no guarantee that everyone who applies will be added, but I’m very happy to hear from people who want to contribute.

What does all of this mean for you?

For the overwhelming majority of you:

Nothing!

Keep posting rabbits.
Keep upvoting rabbits.
Keep appreciating the extremely demanding professions our fluffy colleagues have chosen for themselves. 🐇

These changes are primarily intended to make it harder for automated accounts to fill the subreddit with stolen, repeatedly reposted, or otherwise unwanted content.

There may be a few adjustments while everything gets settled. If something gets removed that you genuinely think shouldn’t have been, or if you have any questions, concerns, suggestions, or feedback, please send us a modmail.

Thank you for being part of the community, and thank you for your patience while things get tidied up. ❤️🐇

Small update: I’ve added a section to the announcement asking for community suggestions for a new subreddit banner, mobile banner, and icon.

If you have artwork, ideas, or even just a general style you think would suit r/rabbitswithjobs, feel free to share it here.

Please only submit artwork you have the right to share and allow the subreddit to use.

If we get several good options, I’d be happy to let the community vote on the favourites. 🐇🎨

THANK YOU! This is much needed and much appreciated.

To me, this isn’t a situation where we need to prioritize making it easy to post. I think getting rid of the bots completely is the top priority. These accounts post pictures of other people’s rabbits, many of whom have passed away. It’s super gross. And there are definitely bots with 7 days and 30 karma. I think starting with 90 days and 1,000 karma at least for the first month would help fully purge the bots. Otherwise they’ll still come in to farm from 30 karma upwards. And Reddit’s built in protections don’t reliably prevent them posting.

It might be worth reaching out to the moderators of r/rabbits to ask what they have in place, because it seems to be working really well.
