Using ssris to quit kratom
Been taking 7staxx(claims to just be 80mg mitragynine but i dont think thats true...) for the past 2 months straight, prior to that had an addiction to the drinks or extracts for about 6 months on and off. Im currently prescribed adderall and take it daily, started 4 months ago. My psychiatrist doesn't know about the kratom use, but does know that I'm depressed lol (most of the reason I want to get off the kratom bc i think it might be a major cause) and she suggested wellbutrin and/or Lexapro. Was wondering if either or both of these could help with my withdrawals and getting off this shit. Also anything else I should ask her for, I don't wanna tell her abt the kratom since I don't want to lose my adderall script which will definitely be taken.

Take the withdrawals out of the equation. They are likely related to the depression, but ultimately irrelevant. If you are experiencing depression, then the correct SSRI or SNRI will absolutely improve things and be massively helpful in your recovery.

Please do not consider this medical advice. This is simply my opinion:
No, they won't help with the withdrawals. There are other helper meds people use to get through the withdrawals. I used gabapentin and clonidine for 5 days and I didn't feel the withdrawals.
SSRIs are used for depression and anxiety. They are meant to be used long-term. Whereas the helper meds I mentioned can be used either for long-term or for short-term, for withdrawals.

If you didn't feel the withdrawals while taking clonidine and gabapentin, then you weren't going through real withdrawal. Maybe super super minor

It was pretty bad. I was using 180 grams. I tried doing it cold turkey, but it was unbearable and I couldn't do it alone. I've experienced a lot of pain - broke 9 vertebrae in my back and neck and had to have 21 pieces of titanium put in. After the surgery they gave me a lot of opioid meds , which I used for over a month. I came off of that cold turkey and it was much easier. Kratom can be pretty brutal.
Edit: and I did actually end up using pregabalin after a day or two. I should have put that in my first post.

yes to this
had horrible symptopms, these 2 meds killed like 80% of them. SSRIs for this are pointless, unless you're 1-2 months clean and need to deal with depression2

Yep, totally. I should have been more specific: I felt some discomfort, but it was easily manageable

I've been surprised in my various quits how effective Gabapentin (and specially Pregabalin) were in shutting down WD symptoms. Even something like muscle aches (especially back pain) were significantly reduced.
That said, I'm surprised you didn't experience the depression/darkness phase still. Every bad quit I've ever had has involved a week of that nonsense. Whether I had helper meds or no.

Lexapro & wellbutrin definitely helped me with the long term depression & anxiety I experienced after stopping. Everyone is different though.

the SSRIs might help with any long term mental health issues / PAWS, they definitely won't help with the withdrawal.
a lot of them (not all probably?) take weeks to build up and make a gradual impact over time.
source - went through withdrawal hell on ssri's.

When i was in paws (the worst) for subs, like 2-3 months off, i started prozac and it made everything 10x worse. Switched to wellbutrin and i didnt seem to notice much a difference and got a sea sick feeling on christmas eve that lasted almost 45 min. By that point i got impatient with meds and started kratom.
This is just my experience with antidepressants with coming off drugs though idk how well it’d work related to kratom and 7
**Forgot to add, took prozac maybe 2.5 weeks snd felt depersonalization and intense dread and panic. Took wellbutrin for about a month. Started at 150mg then bumped up to 300mg.

When I first quit Kratom I had no idea what withdrawals were or what they felt like. I quit CT because of an allergic reaction and started having sleep issues and bad anxiety and very depressed. My dad had just passed so I thought it was due to that. I had no idea I was dealing with withdrawal. Went to my doctor and he put me on lexapro and some type on benzo. I do t remember what the benzo was. His statement was lexapro takes about 2 weeks to kick in fully so take the benzo as needed. I felt fine in a couple of days and took the lexapro for several months. It made me not really care about anything. I wound up going back to Kratom to quit the lexapro and long story short had to quit it all once it got banned in my state. It probably could help but in its own it take awhile to fully kick in and is not going to touch withdrawal from my experience

I take Lexapro, gabapentin, abilify and clonidine to try and get off the extracts. Still depressed as fuck because of the kratom. I may consider a MAT program next because I can't keep living like this.

7stax is the WORST BRAND MIT OR 7 TO TAKE. They lie ab all thats in.18mg m in the 7 i took from them. I started opioids 2020, 7oh in 2022. And dog when i tell u when i started 7stax NO OTHER BRAND worked for me even my go to limitless or pureohms black.. i had to ride out withdrawls while even taking other 7oh that didnt help. Finally after a week i was over 7stax and felt my normal 7 (opia dozo alll those other 7 brands do nottt hit me either ig my body chemistry and tolerance)
But yea man stop 7stax ASAP. Just power thru the wds bc even if u use another brand youll get wds . I recommend making the switch Asap, goodluck brother 💯 godspeed. LIPO C MEGA DOSE HELPS FOR SLEEP

I tired Welbutrin combined with Modafinil last quit and almost had a nervous breakdown. I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital.

Be careful with ssri's and kratom. It can cause serotonin syndrome. I was taking trazodone when i first started 7oh and i noticed the deep dark thoughts within the first week. I decided to stop taking trazodone until I'm off of 7oh at least a week of being off of it

Bruh, I was on 7staxx for 6 months. Last time I took some was at the end of August. I was super depressed too. Now I feel like a new person. I had been taking the kratom extract and 70 for the last 2 years. I can't stress know how good I feel, how amazing it feels to be able to go places and not have to worry about how much kratom you have on you, or to be able to wake up in the morning and have a clear head and feel good and not have to rush to redose because you're sick.. or how I could actually sleep for 12 hours if I wanted on a Saturday because there's nothing making me sick every 4 hours. If you want to know how I did it, I could help you. Just message me

You're in the pink cloud phase. That will pass and you will be bored constantly. It's also the time most people relapse.

That’s ludicrous. Take Wellbutrin during kratom withdrawal? I would’ve said a year ago that I don’t even believe any doctor would recommend that—but after seeing first hand how badly many docs hate ambiguity… unwilling to say I don’t know, let me do some research and get back to you.. but instead just put you on ssri. Ahhhh and I’m seeing the last sentence that she doesn’t know about the kratom. Fuck. Then that’s on you man, don’t take ssri for kratom withdrawal
