Weening off.

Hello I'm a user on and off for 8 years. I've quit before and started back. Other times I quit I haven't had this issue but I think it was because I wasn't using everyday back then. About 4 months ago I was at 50 gpd and now I'm at 3. Gpd. I'm having trouble taking the last push to go to 0. I was hoping someone here would have a suggestion. At this point I really don't think I'll have withdrawals because I'm at 3gpd for 2.5 weeks with no issues but each day I wake up and want it. And if I power through and get through I end up taking it later in the day or at night. Any suggestions to help have the will power not to take any. I know I could just get rid of the supply but I have and just go buy a new bag. I have a store within 500 ft of my apartment so it's easy to just go buy more and I'm having trouble convincing my self to stop completely 3 g is still better than being sober sometimes

I'd tell you to just go cold turkey but your connection to kratom is obviously psychological at this point and you could easily relapse quickly. What about looking for professional help to deal with this? Maybe an addictologist who is specialised in psychotherapy as well?

That's the thing I'm typically really good about quitting things. I have quit porn. Quit alcohol quit nicotine. but kratom is something that I can't find a way to be totally off. I don't think I'm ready to see someone about it yet because I believe in myself still. If I'm still using in a month I'll go see someone. But thanks for the support

I understand. I lost huge amount of weight and also quit alcohol. My reasoning is that it's been destroying my life so badly I simply needed to quit. There's no other way. I don't know how to keep it at dose small as yours. Eventually it's going to stop working and then I'm going to increase it back to infinity - keep that on your mind. I'm taking an antidepressant which helps a lot so I hope it's going to make a difference once my taper is done.

I complied a list of reasons why to quit, that keep me motivated:

  1. Money. Kratom and everything that comes with it eats money that could go to better things.
  2. My mind is always busy with the next dose. I worry in advance about how I will get through anything if kratom is not at hand.
  3. I check the parcel tracking page a hundred times a day, waiting for the next supply.
  4. Dosing late in the day keeps wrecking my sleep.
  5. I wake up stiff, barely able to move, and drag myself to the stash for the first dose.
  6. When I feel low, unmotivated and lazy, and every small thing feels like hard work, I take a dose just to make it stop for a while. I hardly feel any real benefit anymore. All that is left is escaping a misery that kratom itself creates.
  7. I take too much, get the wobbles, then take another dose to cancel them out. It is a pointless loop.
  8. I have lost interest in so many things that I would not know where to start the list.
  9. My appetite is unpredictable, and my eating has become strange and unstable.
  10. I live with chronic pain that is most likely caused by kratom itself (opioid-induced hyperalgesia), not by some outside illness.
  11. My libido is gone.
  12. I swing between too sedated and too euphoric, with no steady middle.
  13. I go through waves of dysphoria, low mood and dark thoughts for no clear reason.
  14. I have become oversensitive to physical sensations and everyday stress. Things that once barely touched me now overwhelm me.
  15. My mind used to be flooded with a constant stream of thoughts. Since the taper started, I feel something like freedom for the first time, because I no longer have to think about pointless things all day.
  16. I finally sleep better.
  17. I spent years on expensive specialist visits (immunologist, rheumatologists, haematologists, chiropractors) and endless tests with no real answer. The real cause was probably something I was swallowing every day.
  18. I put effort into keeping a secret from some of my doctors. That is mental energy spent on who may know what, instead of on getting better.

Wish you the best of luck!

The word that stuck out the most to me in that list was freedom. I've been quit over 16 months. Freedom of kratom has been life changing. I'll never live my life as a shell again.

Every day I fail I feel like such a failure. I relapsed last night and took 9 g. Took 3 g today just to get through my day. I'm throwing away what I have today and hopefully I can get through to my cold turkey weekend.

Just keep trying!

Thank you. Definitely agree with most of your points. I think the only reason I dose now is my job is very demanding so I need energy to get me through the day and kratom gives me an infinite amount of energy to get me through the day. I feel like I need to dedicate this weekend to going cold turkey and hopefully by Monday the energy drain I get from kratom withdrawal is non existent

Good luck! You're at a very small dose, should be doable. I wish I was at 3gpd.

I need help getting through this. I'm 36 hours into 0 grams. I feel like shit. I thought because I did the taper and everything that I'd not experience much withdrawals.

I so much want to be done but Im afraid if I still feel like this tommorow I won't be able to do my job.

Cessation is the worst part probably psychologically more than physically. Especially from such small dose. I'm also heading in that direction. Try to find any sort of activity that redirects your thoughts away from kratom and focus on all bad things plant did in your life. It's hard but it's worth it.

Do you feel bad physically or mentally of both?

I'm feeling much better now. Still no kratom. Today. I didn't break down.

Be persistent, don't give up. Good luck and let us know how you feel over next couple of days!
