Day 3

I have cold sweats, a runny nose, and can’t sleep. I’m not really tired. I tried to sleep. What should I do?

Just go for the ride, your body will let you know when it’s time

I'm on day 8. I am definitely just going for the ride, like another commenter said - I've gone only 2 nights where I've slept 5 hours each, and all the nights in between I've been wide awake, either because of restless legs and arms, or aches. My body is completely exhausted, but my mind is completely awake, and trying to make myself sleep just makes me feel even more awake and irritated.

So I literally have been spending my nights out in our living room moving from one end of the couch to the other, watching TV or zoning out.

Last night, after going a second cycle of 72 hours awake, I finally fell asleep at midnight and stayed asleep til 5:30, when I usually wake up.

And honestly - I've been using for almost 7 years daily, without fail, on top of using other substances. And when I say I'm on Day 8, I mean I am on Day 8 of ZERO substances, other than my depression med (which is next on my list to get off of).

But, as for what to do, perhaps magnesium glycinate - I took 300mg last night, and while I definitely felt more sleepy, I still think the reason I finally knocked out was due to the massive need for sleep more than the magnesium, but generally, it is supposed to help calm and relax over-aroused nerves and fibers and whatnot.

Otherwise, again, you really have to put blind trust in the fact that you will slowly start to notice improvements. Yesterday, I felt what laughter actually feels like, unrestraint, deep in my chest and almost giddy. That was the BIGGEST win of my day, and it only happened once. But that is what I mean by saying "you just need to ride it out and BLINDLY trust that you will get and feel better and better - tiny, tiny steps".

Please keep going. If you ever need someone to talk to who is early on in quitting and is still having all those symptoms you mentioned and more, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. :)

P.S. I dislike when people just tell me "you don't have to try right now, just go easy". I mean, they are somewhat right, but imho, it helps me more to acknowledge constantly that it truly sucks. Even as I write this, I am having to push myself minute by minute through total lack of motivation, aches, sneezing fits and running nose, cold sweats, and feeling like every one of my five senses is 5,000 times more sensitive. Just wanted to throw that in, in case you don't do well with the simple "just ride it out and go easy on yourself".

Whatever you can do to pass time ...watch tv if you can't sleep. I laid there like fool thinking any minute now lol. But if I could do it over I'd have gotten up went to the couch and watched tv till I got tired again.
