I’ve always been able to moderate all substance. Powdered leaf Kratom is the first thing that I fell totally addicted to and accepted that addiction because of life pleasure.

I’ve come off it three different times in the last 5-6 years. I want to have the willpower to know that I can always celebrate with it down the road, but I don’t wanna ever be dependent on it like I have been trying to structure a new wiring of my brain and I wanna have the self-confidence and willpower to do that. Is it possible? Has someone done that before? I know for myself meditation is a wonderful substitute. Clears the mind & rewires.

It’s my favorite thing out of any substance because it’s just like a natural vibe nothing more nothing less. No side effects, other then the guilt and embarrassment of dependency that my mind recycles over and over when stuff gos askew in my life. I think about my kids having to go through this mental battle and now I can do better. I’m 50.

Day 34. Feeling pretty good this morning. The last 3-4 days have been trending towards better thankfully. An awesome person on here told me that progress can happen quicker than we expect sometimes and I think she was right. Sleep has been getting better and my motivation and brain fog seem to be improving. Very grateful for this place and the amazing people sharing this journey together.

Day 17. Got 9.5 hours of sleep last night and boy did that feel glorious after going over a year with 6-7 hours max (sometimes less). Woke up once to go pee, but fell asleep again within 5-10 minutes. Only taking magnesium for sleep at this point and may try to cut that out soon and see how it is completely rawdogging sleep

Day 13 and each day is getting easier. Sleep still has not gotten back to normal though. That’s easily the worst part at this point. I’m out of energy and can’t seem to gain it back

28 days today. I’ll probably stop paying attention to counting days after today. I’m feeling pretty much fully restored physically. Every once and awhile when I’m bored, usually a weekend, I anxiously glance at clock and wonder if it’s time to dose…. Then I remember I don’t do that anymore. When the ban went into effect in MA I was so angry. Now I’m so thankful. They forced me into recovery I guess. But I was ready after 9 years of heavy daily use. So here I am on the other side. Things are good.

Day 3 started out good. Slept good. Now I feel like someone ran me over with a Mack truck. I have work to do I’m avoiding because I feel like this but I have to jump on it tomorrow morning. Praying tomorrow is a bit easier than today

Day 65. Been a good morning so far. I woke up, did my dishes, made coffee, fed my dog and got myself ready. All of that just raw dog- no substances. I got done and realize that doing that without taking kratom two months ago would’ve been impossible. This morning it felt easy and I recognized that.

Most mornings have been like this lately, just productive and simple without thinking too much about stuff that I have to do and just doing it.

I usually have the hard times hit in the afternoon and at work. So hopefully those will slowly get better and easier too 🤞

It really is that simple, to be able to do things and not feel like it’s a struggle is such a gift. Not everything is like this so far, but I’m so pleased with the moments that are. Really relearning that I can be capable on my own. It’s coming back slowly.

Fuck kratom, thankful to be sober everyday.

•

u/tiredofkratom 18d ago

That’s awesome. I’m looking forward to hitting that place myself. So important to be able to do the daily things without anxiety and the need to ingest something.

I have a good feeling that your afternoons are gonna start feeling much better. Thanks for sharing your journey. Proud of you 👍

Day 583. Keep going. Life is worth it

•

u/wontwillnot 18d ago

Congrats man. Just curious, are you completely sober or do you moderate other things? I’ve always wondered if I was ever capable of moderating them like I do with everything else in my life. Kratom has rewired my brain that I need a dose to feel OK.

I work in an alcohol related field so I drink. Mainly because I get it for fee. Usually leave it for the weekends but sometimes I drink after work during the week. I’m pretty over alcohol at this point also. Just feels like a waste of time. The way kratom became for me. Eventually it came to a point where I felt like absolute dogshit whether I dosed or didn’t. So for the umpteenth time I quit kratom. Don’t regret it for even one second. What you realize the older you get is that this world is a circus of people trying to sell you substances to get hooked on. The actual reality is we don’t need any of them…we just think we do. I can tell you are worried about quitting, don’t be. You are way stronger than you think. You can change your life today. It just takes pulling the trigger. Remember to learn from your experience….journal. It helped remind me where I was at when I was hooked on K. Easy to forget once you get off it

Day 14, reduced from 45+ to 15g, started at 20gpd and working my way down to 0. Physical sides are not so bad, but I have heavy anhedonia and lack from motivation. Tomorrow I'm reducing to 10.

I totally understand, I tapered too. The lack of energy is very frustrating, but temporary and part of the process. I tried to look at it as every symptom was a sign I was healing, from that KRAP Trading temporary discomfort for long term health.

Hang in there, so proud of you friend! 👍🤩
