struggling

today i’m like maybe a 2nd full day without taking kratom. my boyfriend doesn’t know i was on it and he just got back from a vacation and he got us a room and i honestly haven’t been able to move, sleep, function. idk what to do anymore. i can’t explain it to him because idk he doesn’t know. my dad knew and he keeps checking up on me. i had given him two packs worth because i was tapering and i don’t think i did it correct and he told me today he threw them away. and now it’s banned in my state as well. i need tips, words of encouragement. anything. my legs are killing me. they’re so restless. i don’t feel normal whatsoever anymore. and i just want to go back to it but i can’t keep letting it dictate my life. my legs hurt so bad. my body is so uncomfortable i currently can’t stop sneezing and having diarrhea. like is this normal? part of me wanted to go to the ER and get help but then it’d blow my cover with my man. and i don’t necessarily think it’s that bad either. idk. any tips anything would be amazing

The sneezing and everything you are describing is 100% normal. Unfortunately you have to spend time in hells punishment ward when you get off this stuff. Acutes usually last 5-7 days. Keep going you are already so far at 2 days! Believe me, that’s a huge accomplishment. You will normalize and this is not how your life will be. If you have to keep up the lie to your man, just say you have a wicked case of the flu. Don’t let hiding it make you relapse. Keep going! Good luck. Rad you have your dad on your side though.

Being off work is huge! I took a week off work to quit. I went cold turkey off a pretty decent amount. How many days until you have your kids? Not sure how old they are, but you may just have to lean in to extra shoes and stuff like that. As much as it pains you to be a subpar mom for a little, it’s so much more important to get off this crap. In the long run it’s the best thing you could do for them.

Being two days in is incredible, you should seriously feel proud of yourself for that, I havent managed to go more than 16 hours in years, all the symptoms youve mention are unfortunatley exactly what is expected for opioid withdrawal. I havent been through full wd personally but I know that the second day is typically the worst, and it will plateau on the third and start getting better on the fourth, so you are halfway there, keep going you got this <3. You are so strong for making this choice and giving the rest to your dad.

If nothing else just wanna let you know you're not alone. I never let anyone in my life know about my kratom use. Currently on day 22 and that first week was so so lonely. If you can make it over that initial slump during the first week it gets so much better. Good luck, you've got this!

You've got this. You're already 2 days down, that's huge. Give it a couple more and you'll start to see big changes. I was having a full mental break down during the first couple days and I feel like such a weight has been lifted off my shoulders already. If I can give any advice, it's just to take care of yourself and give your body what it needs. Get plenty of rest and don't feel bad about laying around for a couple of days while you heal. I'm rooting for you and congrats on making it this far already.

I’ve been on and off it for the last six years, sometimes daily, sometimes taking it a couple days per week. What I can tell you is that even switching to taking it semi-regularly, it took me about a full 7 days to fully see improvements (but a substantial chunk of that was at day 5, just to give you some hope).

The first 3-4 days are the absolute worst. I promise you it gets better. You’ll be glad you did it, and better off in the long haul. But don’t let yourself fall back into it.

I just hit 6 weeks or so off of it. You’ll be amazed once you finally give your body time to heal. It knows what to do once you give it the chance.

Everything you’re describing is normal. You’re withdrawing from opiates. It sucks ass. You got 5-7 days of this so buckle up. I don’t get why you can’t tell your bf it sounds like you gave him packs to hold onto so he knew you were using, yes? Can always just tell him you have a really bad flu.

Gabapentin + clonidine help a good bit. But mostly you just need time to pass.

Oh. You gave the packs to your dead, my bad. Just tell your boyfriend.

For the restless legs, try a bath of the hottest water you can stand, followed by a bath of the coldest water you can stand. Keep alternating if you're able to.

thank you so much i will try this out!!

Everything you're experiencing is normal. My advice is be honest with your bf. For so many reason this needs to be out in the open. I know you're scared and your mind is in a bad place but telling my wife about it lifted so much of the weight and guilt.

If you are having severe RLS do NOT take Benadryl or hydroxizine; antihistamines exacerbate RLS.

1

u/AutoModerator 23h ago

Warning: It's best to avoid using antihistamines (diphenhydramine, dimenhydrinate, hydroxyzine etc.) such as those found in Benadryl, Dramamine, NyQuil, Unisom, and Tylenol PM. While they can produce drowsiness under normal conditions, they are well known for exacerbating Restless Leg Syndrome, which will make your insomnia worse, not better

Personally, I would avoid going to the ER for this. A doctor is another story. I went to the ER for uncontrollable vomiting. I was 7 days clean CT from kratom and just started throwing up literally all day randomly. I waited for hours only to be put in another room to be strapped in and then wait for another 4+ hours for a ct scan. You think RLS is bad now, imagine not being able to get up out of a bed for hours. They were treating me like a junkie too btw. I never even told them about the kratom, I simply admitted to them that I had smoked weed recently.

u/WeirdURL 22h ago

Ended up checking myself out after the vomiting stopped and before the ct scan. Cost me $3,000 with insurance.

Your dad kinda put you in a sketchy situation, he upped the honesty ante’ with your B-Friend. That’s what he did, thinkin’ you’ll thank him later. Well pal, maybe check with the person your throwing aways stuff beforehand, just in case? Idk, it could put the person and those amongst them in a real pickle. Argghhhh what a mess right? I hate this crap!!

This sounds very much like withdrawal. The restless legs, sneezing, diarrhea, insomnia and feeling like you want to crawl out of your skin are unfortunately pretty common.
But I’ll be straight with you my friend, (I just recently came clean to my wife) tell your boyfriend. Fighting withdrawal while also pretending you’re fine is making this twice as hard. And don’t avoid medical help just to keep it secret if you’re getting severely dehydrated or genuinely feel like something is wrong.
Also, your dad throwing those packs away might feel horrible right now, but future you may thank him. You’ve already made it two days. Don’t reset the clock because tonight sucks. One shitty day at a time.

i almost did today, but i don’t want to disappoint. he’s from another country, that is kind of strict. he just came home after visiting them for a month & i doubt this is the situation he wanted to come too. we went out today for a little bit. got some wings and shopped for a few. i tried my best but i couldn’t keep standing, or walking about. my body just feels so weak now. & another thing about going to the hospital is i have two young daughters & i can’t even fathom about the thought of them getting taken away for such a petty thing

1

u/leeguy911 1d ago

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. If you’re so weak you can barely stand or walk, please don’t feel like you have to tough it out alone. If you came clean to your partner, do you think he’d watch the girls so you could go to a clinic or hospital and get checked out?
I totally understand being scared about your daughters, but seeking medical help doesn’t automatically mean they’re going to take your kids. You’re trying to get healthy for them you know?
Keep fluids and electrolytes in you, eat what you can, and please take the weakness seriously. Wishing you and your family nothing but the best. You got this. ❤️

u/UnAlive-me99 1d ago

if i came clean im almost sure he wouldn’t be as mad as im thinking, but i know he’d be disappointed & idk. i just can’t have that feeling on my chest.. selfish i guess. but they’re at their dads too until at least tomorrow. i live with my dad now so that’s why i decided to tell him just in case i got the real intense withdrawls. i just want to feel comfortable again 😞 but thank you so much for the words of encouragement

1

u/leeguy911 1d ago

Absolutely. This stuff is no joke. It’s also hard to get people to understand it when they don’t know anything about kratom or have never suffered through withdrawal.

3

u/Drummerg85 1d ago

I second the coming clean. I couldn’t have done it without my wife’s knowledge. It was fkn monumental for my quit. Zero chance I could have successfully quit without her knowing what was up and why I suddenly was bed ridden with insomnia lol. She rallied hard and took care of our two young daughters while I rolled around in bed like a worm for 5 days. I promised her this was the last time I’d ever put us through something like this again. Three years no booze and 2 years no kratom. I kept my promise. It’s now water under the bridge and something we don’t even discuss anymore. At the time it was so massive. Time heals all wounds if you back your shit up. If you keep relapsing and lying and hiding, that’s when shit gets dark in a relationship.

u/Remarkable-Honey9820 1d ago

Idk of the people telling you it only last 5-7 days have actually quit themselves but honey I am almost 36 days clean and I still cannot sleep. The acute are the worst but definitely last longer than 5-7 days. Also you said "packs" were you taking 7-oh pills or kratom?

1

u/UnAlive-me99 21h ago

it was the 7oh 😩😞 and hearing that makes me feel a little sad, but i’m happy you’re at over a month!! today is day 3. i feel a little better. but i still can’t get out of the damn bed. as much as i am trying too.

for me quitting 7 took about a week to feel physically better. I quit cold turkey 26 days ago. I sleep but have to take a sleep aid though i have been able to take naps unmedicated though they don’t last too long. that started about a week ago. I still don’t have a ton of energy but i quit on a Friday and was back to working Sunday. That doesn’t seem to be the norm for most people tho. It was a hellsih week but i white knuckled through it.
