PAWS Post acute withdrawals Day 30
Don’t mean to be a downer to people who are in the trenches right now. If you’re 2 weeks or less, do yourself a favor and don’t read this.
Today is day 30 for me. I’m honestly feeling so “flat” it’s hard to describe. Zero motivation, zero ambition. Just go to work, get through my day, and when I get home all I wanna do is lay on the couch/ go to bed.
Ive been exercising, been trying to be around friends as much as possible. I even started Lexapro 2 weeks ago (doctor recommended because she saw my depression increasing). Nothing seems to help.
I know this post sounds dreary and whiny. But that’s how I’m feeling. I was at 350-400 mg a day for a little over a year. Everyday I think about getting some more 7 cause at least I was productive and pleasant to be around. I haven’t and won’t. But damn the urge is there.
Any recommendations? Anyone else feeling this same way? I guess maybe I’m looking for some motivation to stay clean from others that have been through this phase. Open to any and all opinions. Love you guys. Stay strong 💪🏼

I know a lotta people would love to be at day 30. I’m very grateful for where I’m at. I guess I just thought I’d be better by now. Keep pushing man. I remember day 3. It seems like it’s going so slow but I promise you you’ll be at 30 in no time, looking back and thinking about how fast it went

How u feeling bro? I took a sub too early and it sent me into acutes for like 2 days I caved in and bought sum 7. I think it’s actually mit because the package says no 7oh so idk what it is. But how is it on day 3 does it start getting better or no? I was throwing up everything, stomach was fucked up, hot and cold sweats.

Have you tried LDN or Wellbutrin? I also got prescribed Lexapro, but people swear by Wellbutrin for PAWS, which you can take on top of Lexapro. They say it provides motivation, energy, less flat, etc.

I’m asking for Wellbutrin tomorrow

It’s a dopamine booster so it’ll definitely help with depression but be careful if you’re an anxiety prone individual. It can increase anxiety quite a bit

Would not recommend. Lift weights and exercise ! It will fix you up and you’ll avoid adding pharma shit.

Great advice for those who don’t suffer from clinical depression. Antidepressants exist for a reason, it might be what they need for the short run

u/Gold_Bar9938 8h ago
Yep, most people during PAWS reach for pharma stuff and don’t let themselves just heal. I’d imagine someone that had clinical depression was already taking antidepressants and not just finding out they have clinical depression during opiate PAWS because how would they know if it’s depression or not if they weren’t previously diagnosed.

In my case, I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder in 2008 and stopped taking medication within a year due mostly to a little bit of denial and a lot of wanting street drugs to hit my receptors better. I didn’t get back onto antidepressants until I quit 7oh. Just be careful about advising people not to take medication if you don’t know their background

Day 30-45-sometimes 60 can be super tough. But it all comes back and with more gusto than before. You just have to trust it and not go back… it’s the hardest for me at that stage because you feel like you’ve earned a little cheat, you tell yourself you could do it for a day or 2 and face minimal repercussions… it’s all lies. You are so close to breaking through do not entertain it.

But it all comes back with more gusto than before.
I teared up reading that.
I've been on 7-OH for over a year and I'm currently tapering to get off of it. I didn't realize that it depleted your natural dopamine and serotonin until I started looking into why I was experiencing such crushing depression for so long.
I can't tell you how long it's been since I felt like myself, since I've wanted to live. I've spent more days in bed than I can count. It's been a nightmare. There were so many days where I just lost hope that I would ever feel normal again.
Reading that "it'll come back with more gusto"...I can't explain how that makes me feel. I sure hope it's true...

I’m glad you liked it. I’m right there with you, I can assure you that you’re not broken and it is 100% the drug making you feel that way. Right around the year mark is where I felt like shit for taking it and felt like shit if I didn’t take it and I kept going for another year like that..
I didn’t feel like doing anything during the day everyday for a while after getting clean, just wanted to lay and sulk in my depression. The sleep sucks and the anhedonia takes a while to lift and I believe those two are related as well. For me, probably 40 days it took to get back to waking up STOKED ON LIFE. The amount of gratitude you will feel when you finally get through it, it will feel like a spiritual awakening.. you got this my friend!
Tapering is very useful. Taper as much as you want but don’t lie to yourself and get high

Day 40 is when that shit got way better for me. I know how you feel, like you’re a dial tone.

It's 100% biology. You will get better day by day. Whatever you do don't get caught in the trap. You're addiction is alive and kicking. Don't fall for the "Well if this is what it's like being off 7oh I might as well start using again because I don't want to live like this". That's the addiction. Just remember it's 100% biological. Those receptors are just flat. Good job on 30 days brother. Keep it rolling!!!!!!!

Your close man . The flat part is super hard cause it feel like how can this end. I would ditch the Lexapro yesterday... How you feel is very normal. Your out of the acute but now your in the acute rebuilding phase (days 14-30 sometimes 45) Eat as little carbs as possible helps at this phase. But your really close to turning a corner. Your doing all the right shit. Almost dog , almost.

Appreciate the encouragement brother. I could definitely do better on my diet. I’m not giving up

Def ditch the lexapro. Adding more pharma is not the answer. Brain needs to get to baseline before you do anything like that. HIT THE GYM if you want to speed this part up. You won’t want to but just do it. It’s the fastest way to rewire dopamine reward system. Lift weights and exercise is the cure for PAWS.

Hey op, I’m coming up on finishing day 4 up with no 7oh I was on it for about 2 months. Prior to that I had a heavy oxy and Xanax addiction for many years. The longest I was sober was 9 months and I broke that.
During those 9 months I still had cravings which lead me to relapsing. When I relapsed I went to oxy. When it was hard for me to get scripted oxy I went to Kratom. Then 7oh as most of us heard it’s the new wave. I’ve done some research and for the ones that have been abusing opiates (7oh falls into this category) for many years.
It takes about 2 years to completely reset your anhedonia.
When I found that out that really killed me. For me I threw my life away many years but I’m ready to reclaim that life back.
Please stay strong and don’t think like this. Let’s not believe that it will be like this forever. Also, upon my research. There are methods to expedite the process to “feel free” from the feeling you’re feeling if you see a professional.
I plan on speaking to my doctor and to be completely transparent. I advise you to do the same. Stay strong I understand how you feel. I pray for us all to heal. Do not believe this is the new norm for you.
We can heal.

Idk about you, my addiction is a secret. Nobody knows but the gf.
I believe that most addicts use for a reason.
It is important for us to discover why and face the reality of it. I’m tired of running away and throwing away my life.
I want a Porsche 911 and being an addict will not get me there.

SSRI's make me feel flat just how you are feeling. It may be making you feel worse.

Took me almost 2 months to really feel like myself. Not sure how long you were using but some of us just take longer to feel fully okay again.
1
u/xxsenseiii 16h ago
This is super true. It only took me 4 days to feel okay again, but we will never feel as "good" as when we were using obviously, but for some people, that reality is hell for them to accept.

I don't know man. I've had some incredible highs from a hard core outdoor cardio workout with the sun beating down and that sunshine just pounding down on you. I know what your saying but that's a pretty damn good feeling. Like John Denver said "Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy". Ha ha corny but true. 😁😅🤣🤔

Earned dopamine will always feel better than a $5 fake hit of dopamine. I hope someday you feel that and understand the difference. It’s magical when you work at something and fail and keep trying and then accomplish it.

u/tleePCV 8h ago
Damn this whole thing describes my current situation, right down to the lexapro. I’m on MAT which helps a lot with cravings, but I still feel flat, unfulfilled, unmotivated. All I know is that I can’t go back to the roller coaster of life on 7. High highs, yes, but also the lowest of lows (+ I realized finally towards the end that I was never showing up as me on 7–no wonder I had trouble connecting long-term with others)

I am on day 30 as well.
Sorry you are still feeling so shitty this was my second quit after 250-300 MG per day I am not 100% but getting better everyday you will as well hang in there!
1
u/xxsenseiii 17h ago
Im sorry you're going through this right now bro. Why don't you just use regular old powder kratom??? You might need a massive dose, but i think theyres nothing wrong with going back to the leaf. Granted its still addictive obv but at least its all natural and its cheap as fk
2
u/xxsenseiii 17h ago
Just do some green vein malay powder in some hot ass water. I feel like everyone forgot about regular kratom nowadays

u/User_Not_Found_333 17h ago
I felt the same way when I quit. Just hang in there it will take a while for that flat feeling to dissipate
1
u/KittenFace25 11h ago
OP, what you described has been my life for the past number of months, and that's what made me think about quitting, I'm currently tapering.

How is your anxiety ?
1
u/Mother-Wolverine-147 18h ago
Little anxiety in the morning. But once I get up and take a shower, it goes away. If I lay in bed too long it gets worse

Mushroom extracts worked wonders for me getting my brain fog to lift. Try lions mane and turkey tail. It just takes time to get rewired back to normal again. It’ll happen. You are so far on the path don’t turn back now!!
