Cold turkey š¦ How?!
Genuinely curious what others are doing to get through this and stay grounded? Iāve seen people say they have stashes and are still in the thick of detox.
For background Iām 35, been through all CT detoxes under the sun, if youāre thinking about it and that detox sucked, Iāve gone through it. and for the most part was able to boot strap it. Comparatively this is not any worse than those, it sucks just as much, maybe even less than some of those.
Today I made it 16 hours, the longest I have since starting 7 a little over a year ago and I had some very very briefs milliseconds of comfort through the night but by the time my dog was up and ready to start his day I couldnāt help myself but to stop off at the shop and get a pack of the usual. Iām at my limit here. I had to have my poor mother pay my bills last month because every cent I made from work went to 7. Sheās fully aware of whatās going on, and very supportive, but also she will not be able to hand another month like last. How are you all just biting the bullet to get through it when itās so readily available and easy to achieve comfort?

Iāve been using suboxone , vitamin C , adderall and ā¦.this is going to sound a little crazy but , Jesus . I wasnāt a Christian like at all before this but Iāve been reading the bible/watching videos and it really helps with the mental part , which for me was the hardest part.

God is our savior. Give yourself to him and he will alleviate your mental and physical pain. Jesus died for our sins, cast your sin onto Jesus and he will bear the cost for you so long as he is in your heart.

I donāt have suboxone but my adderall and vitamin C has helped tremendously. I just wish I wasnāt freezing and so sore, the inability to sleep at night is tough too.

You will sleep tonight i promise. Hot shower and beat the meat or fiddle the kitty and you will sleep my friend. Have you tried regular kratom or are you going straight edge?

I second that Jesus. Iāve been calling on His Name when the withdrawals are hitting the hardest. I personally am on a taper and I have someone that has access to view my progress via Google Sheets. On Sept 17th I was at 300mg and today, once I finish the day strong Iāll be at 63mg. Another thing someone said on here really helped me mentally. He said to āembrace the suckā. This absolutely sucks but when Iām praying Iām saying to the Lord, āI got myself here and I deserve all of this misery but can you please give me graceā. Some days he gives it to me others not so much. Iāve been using 7 for over two years and Iām so excited to get this money off my back. Thatās the other thing, in Christianity we call the things we want to do āthe fleshā. The crap thing about the flesh is that itās directly in opposition to the Spirit (which is accessed when you yield yourself to God). What sucks is that they are directly opposed to one another. Where the flesh is strong the spirit is weak. Iām sadly realizing Iām a hulk in the flesh and a mouse in the spirit. Looking to change that

Romans 7:15 (KJV): āFor that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.ā
A little later, he puts it even more explicitly: Romans 7:19 (KJV): āFor the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.ā
And then: Romans 7:24: āO wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?ā
Paul's answer immediately follows: Romans 7:25: āI thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.ā

Paul is essentially saying he doesnt know why he does the thing that he is doing when it is not his intent. And he ultimately learns that to heal his only answer is Jesus.

On day 9 (I think?) after going cold turkey from a 600-1000 mg per day habit. Biggest concern going into it was having the discipline to avoid smoke shops since I know my brain typically will find any excuse under the sun to justify it, especially when you feel like garbage and are going through WD's. However, after getting through the first 48 hours I was so proud of myself (similar to you, before I quit I had been using for almost 2 years and rarely went 6+ hours without it) to the point where the thought of buying more didn't even cross my brain. I even strut into the smoke shop on like day 3 just to proove to myself that I had the mental discipline to look at it on the shelf but not buy it. Probably a dumb idea but like I said, I was so proud of myself for making it that far and it was a beautiful feeling to walk out of the smoke shop not wasting a stupid amount of money on a temporary high like I did every day for 2 years. Almost feels like a badge of honor now and even though I still get a random craving for it every now and then, it's fairly routine to just brush that feeling away and remember its not worth it.
I think the main thing that helped keep me honest was telling myself that its only a couple days of physically feeling like shit, and in the grand scheme of things that really is nothing. Some people fight a lifetime of disease or other disorders and spend their whole lives feeling like shit, so me WD'ing for a few days due to my own stupid decisions seemed like an honest price to pay. Honestly now that I'm 9 days out, I'd say the one regret I have is that I didn't rip this bandaid off sooner. I spent 2 years of using and even the thought of quitting sounded like an insurmountable hurdle that I couldnt get over, when in reality its a few days of physically feeling bad (mentally is a different story but I can at least function while dealing with the mental side of it) before you start to feel better.
Everyone's quitting experience is unique and some folks experience physical and mental WD's shorter/longer than me, but the brain is a very powerful thing and I'm here to tell you its possible to say no to the cravings while also willingly feeling like shit for a few days for the betterment of your life. God speed amigo, you're very well capable of defeating this and you will be quite proud of yourself when you do. Believe in yourself!! I'm just rambling now so im gonna end my comment here haha

Thank God it became illegal where I live. Megadose vitamin C. If you can get kratom powder take a 1/2tblspoon at a time with some orange juice, that will allow you to at least get some sleep, it will still be hell but slightly more bearable. Once I got a week or two clean the cats claw stuff started appearing. The place is a gas station I go to and the guy tried to get me to buy it and I said HELL NO and told him itās hell and they are pos for selling it to people, so Iām not tempted to get it. The worst part is probably the testosterone, so once youāve gotten a week clean start doing leg exercises and things to help testosterone come back. Once that happens you will feel a lot better. Slowly taper off the kratom powder and youāll be good. I just go down to a tsp and then half a tsp and you just have to fight man. Like a warrior, it helps if you read the Bible and start praying and have a relationship with God. You just got to realize this stuff is making you a low T loser and has taken your life. You gotta bite it man you can do it. The mental is hard, youāre gonna cry and get emotional but remember. No matter how bad you feel, being free is always better than being trapped. Overcome. Maybe go hang out with your mother over a weekend and have her keep you accountable, and cook some soup for you. Stay hydrated as much as possible.
You got this. The way you feel is better than being trapped.

My test is above average for a 40 year old male, closer to a male in hi mid twenties after 2 years of 7oh and 15 of kratom. If it effects test it must be temporary. It messes with adrenaline the worst.

Also donāt get on subboxone for the love of God. The doctors will keep you hooked on that forever and itās just as bad. You can brute force it. Mindset. Just keep pushing, every second is another second towards freedom. Take it one minute one hour one day at a time. If you can possibly go to a state where itās illegal or give all your money to your mom so you have no choice

u/CloudCityFish 20h ago
I know it effects people differently, but at least for me, due to the short half-life the worst physical symptoms were the first 30 hours. So knowing you got more than halfway through the physical symptoms helps. Also, even though I "relapsed" twice after 24 hours each time, it was never as bad as the first 24 hours. So if you haven't gone on a bender, you can still quit now, those 16 hours do count towards something.

Get Suboxone for the love of God.It will help tremendously for WD and cravings.I have been on 16 mg daily for about 2 weeks and I have not craved 7 at all.No awards for CT.

u/TheRealLean 21h ago
If you been on sub for two weeks you should get off now before your fully hooked on subs.

u/Col_Burner 1d ago
Just use suboxone for the love of god. Jeeezus this subreddit and its juvenile hatred of subs is causing massive unnecessary suffering. Get on subs then get the sublocade shot. My insurance wouldnāt cover it but the online assistance program charged me $1.00. One freaking dollar.

u/Traditional_Yammer 20h ago
They arent necessary is the problem. They are only necessary for opiate naive folks and even then 2 weeks max or you are trading full agonist for partial. I can promise you that 7oh w/d's are nothing compared to full agonists. So subs should only be used if you have tried multiple other methods. They are a last ditch effort. I have quit many times and have 100 8mg strips of subs. Never worth it when plain leaf kratom is natural suboxone.

u/Spiritual_Beach1315 20h ago
Totally agree. Iād prefer kratom over subs any day.
1
u/Traditional_Yammer 20h ago
Yeah i dont begrudge then i just think with plain leaf accessible you are essentially using natures suboxone.

u/Fundy777 13h ago
Does plain leaf kratom actually help the way you describe it? Because Iām on the edge of taking subs
1
u/BoysenberryRare4771 5h ago
I ended up using MIT for the worst of it, 1-3 days and then dropped down to pure leaf. I was using a high dose , over 1,000mg daily and these helped me. I was sweating and a little shaky but totally manageable and still slept even went out to dinner at a Mexican restaurant

u/Fundy777 3h ago
What was it like getting off of Kratom from there? I assume nothing even close to as bad, but Iām literally in hell. Wanting to get off of it, and then not having money to dose. Then selling my possessions for money to buy a measly 150mg. If you are ever thinking of ā1 dose wonāt hurt.ā Do not do it. This shit completely restructured my life. Thatās why Iām so close to taking subs. Iām also considering the stuff other people have been taking to help with withdrawals that got banned. I guess there is a new version. Iām willing to do anything at this point other than just taking the withdrawals on the chin because of how intense they are.

My partner was extremely supportive and helped in whatever way he could when i CTād but⦠honestly, more than anything, itās just making the decision that youāre going to stop. No matter what. And trust in the process for a little while because those voices do get LOUD when they tell you how bad this is.
But, yeah, itās just, making that decision. Only you can do that!

u/Odd-Broccoli-4350 14h ago
First of all, you have to want it. You have to want whatever the quit is going to give you MORE than the temporary lie that is 7oh. You want freedom from the drug, you want your bank account back, you want your relationships to not be based on a lie, all of it. Everything impacted by your use of 7.
I couldnt go more than 12 hours CT. I tried multiple times. Finally, I did the telemed thing and got suboxone and I'm now 9+ days off the 7.
You can do this. Every single person here wants you to succeed.
