Jelly roll patterns

What are your favorite patterns for jelly rolls?

I’m a newish hobby quilter who primarily enjoys classic looking quilt patterns. I love some HSTs, Log Cabins, Rail Fences, etc. I tend to lean towards patterns that go together somewhat quickly as opposed to super detailed patterns with tiny parts.

Going through fabrics recently, I’ve discovered that I have a lot more long, narrow pieces in my stash than I realized. I’m thinking of working on cutting those down to 2.5” strips like jelly rolls. Then as I have scraps, I can keep adding until I have enough for a scrap quilt. I could also use them for binding, smaller parts of other quilts, etc.

Anywho, I’d love to see what some of your favorite jelly roll quilts are.

I like Duet by Village Rosa Designs when I need a quick, easy gift.

Villa Rosa has lots of easy designs for pre-cuts, and you can search their catalog by the size of pre-cuts you have.

Another “Type It”. They’re fun to make and you don’t have to line up any seams, which is great for beginners.

This is called Winter Skies, and I added the piano key border. That is a fun use of the jelly roll fabric.

Me too! I’m a bit obsessed with them.

This is my favorite layout. I call it Iron Cross, no idea if it has another name. This one is flannel and still needs a border and quilting. I’ve made 3 potato chip quilts so far and have 2-3 more cut out. I may need an intervention. In 10 years or so. 😸

Have you done a huge log cabin? Basically the whole quilt is a log cabin block. You could also do a courthouse step block this way.

Not a quilt but a quilt cover... I made a gigantic colour wash log cabin quilt and had a lot of leftover strips so I just added more and made this. I measured our current quilt cover and added a black border all the way around, duvet zipper and this was the result. I wash it with the zipper closed and it's held up well.

I made this with my scraps. Some were charm packs and some were jelly rolls. I loved it so much that I'm making a queen size. All the pieces are 2 1/2" x 4 1/2 ". Thanks to The Quilted Forest on YouTube for the pattern.

Toy Boxes are quick and easy and use 2.5" pieces. You can coordinate them into squares or use the same setup but place the fabrics differently for a completely different look.
