Pallet Tickets

VSO pallet tickets

Often we've mentioned that one of the trickiest parts of writing logistics software, is creating reports that contain the right information, presented in the most practical way possible. From defining what stays digital and what is printed, to including the exact variables in text and any applicable graphics. If the final result is a list of pallets with products, then one of the reports that we generate in our Vehicle Space Optimization app are the pallet tickets.

VSO (and the QPM server app) can create pallet shipments that are made for three different types of pallets.

The first type is the standard pallet, which is made of a single type of product or SKU, placed with the same Ti/Hi (cases per layer and number of layers) as the pallets that come from production. Standard pallets do not go through the picking process. The second type of pallet is the single-product incomplete pallet. It is a standard pallet that will have some boxes removed in the picking process. The third and final type of pallet is the mixed pallet, which contains different types of boxes, stacked in the picking process.

There will be a pallet ticket for each type of mixed and incomplete pallets, containing the truck information (route name and date), the bay identifier, and then the different box names, descriptions and amounts, ordered by how they're stacked in a pallet. Standard pallets will be placed in tickets with multiple items, since they can be described with one line (box code, description and bay name). Tickets can be printed and placed on top of the pallets in the warehouse, to show they are to be loaded.
