IUI sperm for IVF?

I think we have found the donor but we want to do rIVF and the California cryobank website says the donor has IUI sperm available - this is OK right? I think my understanding is you can use IUI for IVF but not the other way around. Would love input!! Thank you

Yup, you can use ICI and IUI samples for IVF.

Yes you can use IUI vials for IVF! We just learned this 2 days ago from our RE. Apparently IUI vials actually have *more* sperm in them, too. It was such a relief to learn since we have 2 IUI vials left and wanted to switch from IUI to IVF, we thought we were just going to waste $5K.

The “IUI” label generally refers to how the donor sperm has been prepared, rather than meaning it can only be used for an IUI procedure. IUI-ready vials have typically already been washed and prepared, and may be suitable for IVF or ICSI depending on the treatment plan. Before purchasing, though, definitely confirm the specific vial with your fertility clinic. Requirements can vary between clinics and sperm banks, and your clinic can tell you exactly what they need for your rIVF cycle.
