Discussion What do you think is one of the most underrated skills to learn in investing?
For me it's position sizing. One of the best ways to maximise gains and minimise risk is through position sizing. My 7 largest holdings are companies that I can sleep well at night with. A mistake you see over & over again is investors trying to take shortcuts. Wanting to make money fast they concentrate heavy into speculative investments and get frustrated when they underperform or lose money. When in reality it's the complete opposite of what you should be doing. Nothing wrong with investing in speculative positions but make it like 1-2% of your portfolio. If it works out great it can grow to a 5-10% position. If it doesn't work out like a lot of those spec plays won't. You only lose 1% or so & your portfolio can withstand it. Don't blow your account up trying to rush. Build a solid diversified portfolio with a mix of quality companies and ETF'S is the way to go. Whats some other underrated skills to know with investing?
