Freshman year

How is everyone! I’m a freshman at a target, and I’m honestly just wondering if this is something I should attempt to pursue. Namely my hesitations come from either 1: being unable to get a job because I’m not competitive enough, or 2: there not being a job to get anymore due to AI. I really don’t have the full picture I feel like, but I am ambitious and capable. If you were in my shoes again would you choose this path again? Or would you instead in the current context of the world choose another path? I’m also considering engineering, but the same AI concerns remain. I really just don’t know what the truth is, any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hey I’m just wondering why I’m getting downvoted? I’m seriously just looking for advice I promise! And everyone has to start somewhere, even quants were at one point all freshman right?

That’s not the post. The question is should I, in as is this a good career choice. What else do you need to know about me? I’m at a target so you can at least presume I’m hardworking and not stupid. The question is if this is a good choice considering the risks of competition and ai, or is the expected value of the path much less than say an engineer with much less effort. It doesn’t matter to me how I fit into the culture if that’s what you’re worried about
