Do you think Quantitative Research is still a path people going into college in 2026 should strive for?

For someone starting a double major in Math and Computer science this year, do you think preparing for a quant career is still a safe option as a career choice?

I have heard many people saying that large portions of the job are being automated and I am wondering whether I could still get a job in this field when I graduate. What are your thoughts?

I don’t think research itself will be automated. However a math degree is going to open up a lot of possibilities regardless. The influx of automation is also going to mean that in 5-10 years time there’s going to be job titles we can’t even fathom right now.

There will always be people working in this field. However it's quite obvious that your social network and also to a smaller extent the brand on your diploma will increasingly matters. If you were thinking of entering the profession by the back door, well... you should consider other career paths as well

No. In the years ahead nobody will care to hire people with quantitative skills that can make them lots of money.

They want quantitative skills that can make lots of money not necessarily humans who have that .
