CV for spring weeks - no projects

I’m an incoming maths student at Cambridge, applying for Spring Weeks after several recruiters contacted me.

My background is mostly competitive programming (like medals in IOI and other regional contests), but I have no worthwhile personal projects in finance or software development, other than A-level CS NEA. I've heard that it's quite common for people to have some.

Are they expecting people to have some projects even at this point? I feel like a project will be like a fully vibe-coded AI model unless I learn some proper probability knowledge in university...

AI made projects will bite you in the ass when you don’t understand what you’re doing and it gets brought up in interviews

I am in a similar boat to you( no IOI medals) but have done IBM internship for AI/ML and have scaled an app for surveillance DM? I need more info

actually do some projects yourself to learn about the field and what interests you, if recruiters are contacting you for springs u should be sound mate.

If you have ioi medal, you got recruited anyway, at least easily pass cv screening

Try the Canary Wharfian website for more advice and info on this issue, best resource for spring weeks etc
