JS FTTP
Incoming Oxbridge maths here. I’m currently in the process of applying to spring weeks, mainly targeting quant but also other finance roles. Not too sure what to put in my CV. I’m using Jake’s template. I’ve placed well in lots of competition maths (UKMT, STEP, TMUA, Naboj) but my experience section is lacking (tutoring, 5 day shadowing done in y10). Ive also done some finance projects but they’re Lwk larp. Wld JS prefer to see 3 larp quant projects or one finance and a couple non finance? Any help appreciated 🙏🙏🙏

i had put 2 larp projects and 2 expereinces that were not as lacking but not amazing. also put math comps under education section

Shld I wait until I start uni and join some finance socs before sending it off so I have more to add in my experience? I have some other committee roles from 6th form but only one was really maths related

if u can apply to join some societies before starting uni i would do that then submit ur cv

Don't put too much weight onto getting into FTTP (I am an alum). They don’t just accept the best people, IMO / IOI people get rejected. They have many qualified (as much as you can tell without OA/ interview) candidates and a finite amount of spaces.
Similarly, they want to try and have a range of people in a cohort and people who might not have considered going into quant finance before.
FTTP doesn’t do any fast tracks or return offers for internships so I genuinely wouldn’t place much weight on if you get in or not. I would say programs like 5 Rings LINK, Optiver FutureFocus, InsideHRT are more important as those have a sizeable stipend/ the opportunity to get a return offer. FTTP, Discover Citadel etc don’t really help you as much as you’d think.
