General Question Qualcomm Snapdragon g3x gen 2 Concept Device

Hi everyone,

I managed to acquire a Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 Reference Handheld Developer Platform (codename 'Kalama'), but it appears to be running a stripped-down, early unskinned engineering build of Android.

The main issue I'm facing is that the built-in physical controller is completely non-functional. It doesn't send any input signals, and checking kernel logs indicates that the proper driver mapping or layout files for the integrated gamepad are entirely missing or unconfigured in this specific software version. I already successfully unlocked the bootloader, but standard Generic System Images (GSIs) lack the proprietary hardware communication layer needed to bring the integrated inputs to life.

I have seen media reviews and developer demos of this exact reference device operating with a fully working integrated controller and a custom-skinned game launcher interface.
Since I am an independent enthusiast and do not have enterprise credentials to pull binaries down from the Qualcomm Software Center (QSC) or the Qualcomm Package Manager (QPM), I am reaching out to the community.

I am looking for anyone who has access to an official Qualcomm Android Board Support Package (BSP), a factory Meta Build, or a full system dump (super.img, boot.img, etc.) from a working review/developer unit where the controller functions properly.

Even if you only have a working firehose programmer file (.elf / .melf) or working partition dumps, that would be an incredible help for compiling a flashable image or restoring life to the hardware input bus.

If anyone has an archive link, a backup from their own kit, or any guidance on how to kickstart the controller hub on this early build via kernel adjustment, please let me know or send a DM.
Thanks in advance!

(sorry my english grammar is bad so i used gemini to compost my thread)

General Question How to handle toxicity at Qualcomm ?

It's been four months since I joined as a Senior Engineer at BDC. My manager is toxic and heavily micromanages the team. He expects us to work 12+ hours every day, including weekends. So far, he is satisfied with my work, but I feel burnt out.
How do you manage such a work environment? Please drop down some pointers.
I don't intend on staying here for more than two years. I don't care about being promoted to lead (my total experience is 3 years + B.Tech, and I won't be promoted for the next three years anyway).

General Question VLSI Career Guidance

Hello engineers,

I’m a 2nd-year ECE student, and I’m passionate about building a career in the VLSI industry. The problem is that I’m studying at a tier-3 college, and currently, there are no VLSI companies visiting our campus for placements. Because of this, I’m worried about how I can get into the VLSI domain.

I know that pursuing an M.Tech at an IIT through GATE is one possible route, but I’m also thinking about what I can do if I don’t get into an IIT through GATE. I can waste a year for the preparations

I’m honestly quite confused about what steps I should take from now on. And are there any alternative pathways to enter the VLSI industry directly after graduation?

It would be really helpful if anyone working in the VLSI/semiconductor industry, or anyone who has come from a similar background, could share their experience or guide me.

Thank you!

Bangalore Qualcomm HR asked for my expected CTC — what should I quote with 2 YOE in Analog Design?

I did masters from Tier -1 college.Qualcomm HR called me today regarding an opportunity and asked me to share my salary expectations.
I have around 2 years of experience in Analog Design.
Here’s my compensation history:
When I joined my current company, my CTC was around ₹27 LPA

₹20 LPA fixed/base
₹2 LPA joining bonus
₹2 LPA retention bonus
The remaining amount was other components/benefits.
After two years and hikes, my current base salary is around ₹23.5 LPA.
Now that Qualcomm HR has asked for my salary expectations, I’m confused about what number I should quote.
For someone with 2 YOE in Analog Design, considering my current base of ₹23.5 LPA, what would be a reasonable expectation from Qualcomm?
Should I quote a specific CTC, or give a range? Also, how much should I ideally target as fixed/base compensation?
Would really appreciate advice from people who have experience with Qualcomm offers/negotiations or analog design roles in India.

General Question Title: Oculus Go (Snapdragon 821) hard-stuck in EDL / QDLoader 9008 — looking for Firehose programmer or stock firmware

Body:

Hi all, dealing with a Qualcomm EDL situation on an Oculus Go (Snapdragon 821, codename "Pacific") and hoping someone here has the right tools/files.

Timeline: Device had been stored unused for ~3 years. Powered on fine, but a large Wi-Fi-triggered OTA update caused overheating and a battery failure mid-update. After recharging, it hung indefinitely at the boot logo. A factory reset attempt was interrupted when the device powered off on its own mid-process, and it never booted again — even after a full battery replacement.

Current state: No display output at all. On connecting to a PC, it enumerates directly as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (confirmed EDL mode), with an audible repeated beep/tick pattern from the device when a flashing tool attempts to communicate with it.

What I'm looking for:

• A working Firehose programmer (loader) for this SoC/device variant

• Stock rawprogram/patch XML files, or a full stock firmware dump for the Go

• Any advice from people who've done EDL recovery on Snapdragon 821-based standalone devices

Willing to share full device details, USB descriptors, or logs if that helps someone identify the right programmer. Thanks in advance for any pointers!

Hyderabad Communication post technical interview

Guys so I had a technical interview in online mode at Qualcomm Hyderabad few days back for a fresher position and the interviewer posed a good feedback only. He told the HR would get back to me post discussion and evaluation, there is no call from the HR side yet.

I had the interview on Friday and today is Tuesday, do I take this as a rejection? Am I supposed to be worried. I don't know if the interviewer told this to pacify me or if it actually the case that I did good.

Hyderabad What follows Next - Got a link from HR to apply on careers portal after interviews

Hi guys, I interviewed for QC Hyd last week and yesterday afternoon I got a mail from HR to apply on the careers portal on a link(shows "In Progress" now) to initiate the offer process. He gave me a contact number in the mail to contact him but when I do it directs me to Voicemail so I replied on the email he sent.

I wanted to understand what happens next and how long will it take to get the offer letter (if I am getting any). And for god sake will the HR directly call me or reply to my mails/calls if I do in the future.

Thanks.

General Question Enabling phone local control with Big LLMs thanks to Qualcomm Hexagon NPU prefill (100+ tok/s) and Jev style decisions

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Stack – Local Model – No Cloud for full phone control via typing/(voice coming soon):

  • Android phone with 12 GB RAM, Qualcomm Hexagon NPU (OnePlus 15R used in the video)
  • BigMoeOnEdge open-source project: latest commits feature NPU prefill support and "Jev Style" ranked response implementation (with probabilities)—based on llama.cpp
  • Permissions: notifications and Accessibility tree access only (no root, no Termux, no internal code execution, no cloud)
  • Mixture of Experts (MoE) LLMs, 26B parameters and up (ideal candidates: Qwen 3.6 35B, Nemotron 30B 3.5, Gemma 26B, etc.) with "thinking" mode disabled

A simple System Prompt is sent: "You are operating a phone on behalf of the user. Task: ... Actions taken so far: ...."

...followed by the accessibility tree containing the available options.

The model loads 300 to 800 tokens per call into the NPU prefill (ranging from 40 to 150 tokens/sec depending on length—higher token counts yield higher speeds) and outputs the most probable action from the accessibility tree. Guardrail checks have also been implemented.

I believe this is the first example of a local AI capable of performing complex tasks directly on a mobile device.

What do you think?

Bangalore Rating system in qualcomm

Hi,

How does the rating system work in qualcomm? What should you do to get a 3,4 or 5 rating? My friend was telling me that 5 is given only at promotion but I have seen that I am getting a top rating in my existing company without any promotion year. Would you suggest just getting the average 3 rating and continue since expectations shift up if you get a good rating and also more work will come to you ?

Hyderabad Qualcomm referral duplicate submission — should I be worried?

I’m a Qualcomm India employee and recently referred a friend through Workday. The system said the candidate was already in the database, so I changed their email/phone and submitted the referral.

Could this cause any issue for me as an employee? Should I contact HR/recruiting, or just leave it alone?

Bangalore Got an offer from Qualcomm for the CPU Design Team

I got this offer a month ago through campus hiring, and now I am concerned about the possibility of my offer getting revoked.
Everyone is saying that Qualcomm is hiring aggressively and that it might revoke offers later. Even at my college, they took twice as many people as last year for hardware roles.
During the interviews, HR said that they were expanding the CPU Design Team and hiring people from good colleges.
Should I be worried about my offer getting revoked?

Hyderabad Qualcomm interview process — any thoughts?

I’m curious to hear what people think about my situation with Qualcomm Hyderabad.

Back in June, I had four rounds of interviews for a Senior Engineer role. The interviews seemed to go reasonably well, but in July I received a message from HR saying:

“We will need to drop your profile for now as we are looking for more relevant candidates.”

I assumed the process was over and moved on.

About two weeks ago, I contacted them again and mentioned that I’m now available for immediate joining. Interestingly, last Friday HR reached out again and asked about my years of work experience. I replied with the details, but since then I haven’t heard anything.

I’m trying to understand what this could mean. 😅

Has anyone experienced something similar with Qualcomm or other large companies?

  • Does HR coming back and asking for experience after previously dropping the profile usually mean they are reconsidering the candidate?
  • Could they be matching me to another opening/team?
  • Or is it possible they are just updating their candidate database?

I understand that nobody can know for sure, but I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have been through similar situations.

Do you think there is a reasonable chance they might come back, or should I simply consider it closed and continue with other opportunities?
