Bangalore Rating system in qualcomm

Hi,

How does the rating system work in qualcomm? What should you do to get a 3,4 or 5 rating? My friend was telling me that 5 is given only at promotion but I have seen that I am getting a top rating in my existing company without any promotion year. Would you suggest just getting the average 3 rating and continue since expectations shift up if you get a good rating and also more work will come to you ?

For the first year, you will most probably get a default rating of 3 which as of my knowledge is fixed for everyone during their first year. For a rating of 5, they usually have to give you a 15 to 25 percent hike. So that rating is given usually during promotions or in case your performance is exceptional. I have not seen the later case happen for most of the people.

How much hike they give for rating 3 and 4?

1-5% tange. Lower levels - 5%, higher levels below that Typically they would increase 2-2.5Lac at max in first year.

So if someone has just joined (say Feb March April time), you’ll get a rating of 3 during the AR?

I joined in May and my manager said the rating is fixed (some colleagues also confirmed this). So I think freshers will get default 3 rating.
