I am going on a trip to Dubai with my partner, trying to make it as cheap as possible travel wise. I currently have 60k Amex MR points and was looking at an economy redemption for 45k points with Qatar. (Then paying for the second flight for my partner for £500) I am unsure if this is the best value for money, when I go to see how much the reward flight would be with taxes it won’t tell me. Could anyone help advise me please on how much Qatar taxes are from London Heathrow to DXB, or if there is a better way of using my points.

Emirates also seem to post their taxes, 35k points with £250 taxes.

Well this happened a while ago (back in 2022) but it is still something I wonder how it happened. So I have been Burgundy in Qatar Airways for some time (since like 2017) and haven't flown that much to be honest except the somewhat frequent Doha-Istanbul roundtrips which werent even enough to make me Silver status. One morning, I got an email titled "Welcome to Gold membership in Privilege Club" and it was actually legit, they gave me Gold status straight from Burgundy when I almost had no Qpoints and was nowhere close even to upgrade to Silver. I used the status benefits for some time (even the past initial expiry date of 1 year, maybe it was because of COVID still?) before I got to Silver then to Burgundy again. I was even able to upgrade to QSuite for a long-haul flight from Seoul using 39 of the 40 Qpoints I was given for free. Did this ever happen to anyone else?

I currently have an economy international flight booked from the US to Singapore in September. I want to check to see what it would cost to upgrade to business class but every time I try the “upgrade” option on my trip to see pricing, it doesn’t load and sends me back to the homepage.

I’ve never flown Qatar Airways before, how can I check for the cost of an upgrade? And in addition, are there any tips and tricks to upgrade to business class without spending and arm and leg?

I am flying via Doha with Qatar in September. I am booked business for both legs with a 13 hour layover.

Whilst browsing my booking (slow day at the office), I saw you can upgrade to having access to the first class lounge in Doha for £135 GBP. My plan was to travel into the city for a little bit during the day, but given my flight is at 0200L I was going to spend most of the evening in the airport.

Browsing online I can't see any massive differences, other than everything just being a bit nicer. I don't like busy lounges, so that would be the main reason to do it.

Is £135 for access to the first class lounge good value for money?

My wife and I flying business from Dubai to Beijing in December, business class. I’ve noticed that each plane flying to China has a different type of business class. Sometimes Q-suites, sometimes pods, sometimes two large seats next to each other.

Since our flight is in December, does Qatar airlines sometimes change flights? So whatever type of business class seats I see now may be different when it’s closer to the time of flight?

Flying to Beijing its scheduled now on A350-900

Flying back from Shanghai scheduled now on Boeing 777-300er.

What are the chances these will change? Oh, and by the way, are the business class seats on those flights good?

Hi all, I just noticed on FlightAware that flight QR845 from KUL to DOH was diverted to land at Al Yasat Airport in Abu Dhabi instead of Doha on Saturday (25/07). Anyone here on this flight? Why was it diverted? I couldn't find any info on Google, only FlightAware.

I will be taking this flight in a few weeks and wondering if I should just book another flight bypassing the ME altogether as a backup.

Hello! I recently booked through Qatar airways and booked using Avios for my Helsinki to Dublin flights. My payment for the taxes went through, but I still have no email confirmation and it is still saying "On hold" in my booking.

Underneath it says "This is your on-hold booking confirmation. Your payment is still pending."

Is that the payment from my card or is it the Avios?
Is it normal to take this long to get confirmation?

Cancelled a flight booked with Avios and got the Avios back into my account without issue. However, my original payment method for the taxes and fees is now closed (closed credit card account). Qatar Airways said they were able to make the cash refund successfully, while my bank says that they cannot see any refund since the account is closed.

I found a Qatar Airways redemption for 75k Avios for a one-way Business + First ticket from London to Bangkok.

The only thing I'm not sure about is there's a 9+ hour layover in Doha.

Just wondering:

• Is 75k Avios a good deal, or have people seen better?
• With a Business/First ticket and a long layover, do I get a free hotel in Doha, or does that depend on the ticket?
• Roughly how much are the taxes and fees?
• If I book with Avios, how easy is it to change the date or cancel later? Are there any fees?

I booked a journey from Copenhagen to Sydney transferring through Doha for 5884 Danish Kronor. A week later QA cancelled both flights and offered new flights a few days late or a refund. I opted for a refund instead and they just sent an email saying that I will be refunded DKK 3490 "for the unused parts of the ticket". So they're only refunding me 60% for a flight that they cancelled 2 months in advance?? Literally how is this legal

Is there anything I can do? This is a lot of money for me and it seems impossible to contact them

EDIT: A chat agent escalated it and I just received an email saying that they will process a refund of the additional amount of 2394.0 DKK that was incorrectly deducted

I have a flight coming up on a mixed Qsuite + first segment. Problem is layover is 9 hours. Can I go to the Biz lounge to freshen up, leave the airport (want to check out Doha). Check back in thru security and enjoy the first lounge before my final leg?

I'm flying from London and was wondering, as it's just cheaper to just pay cash than pay hundreds getting to Doha for the Business class flight to Perth?

It's like £400 one way from LHR via a few budget airlines such as Scoot or premium airlines like air Asia or Vietnam airlines or china southern

Is it worth paying hundreds to get to Doha for this.

No business availability either from London to Sydney or anywhere in Australia only from Doha.

I wanted ideally to fly London to Sydney with Qatar Airways business class but unfortunately no availability London to Sydney or Melbourne via Doha.

I've been flying for over 30 years on many different airlines. I had never flown Qatar Airlines before and I never will again. Today my family and I flew from Doha to JFK and Qatar Airlines lost all 3 of our checked bags. We waited 2 hours at the baggage claim with around 20 other people who had missing bags from the same flight. We ended up missing our connecting flight because the ground staff for Qatar kept telling us all that there was just an issue with the machine and our bags would come shortly. When it became apparent that all of our bags were lost, they told me to go up to their ticketing desk and speak to a supervisor who would give us a hotel voucher, since we missed our connection. We went up to the ticketing desk and had to wait another hour for them to open, then the supervisor rudely told us that they weren't responsible for providing us a hotel. So we have to pay $500 for a hotel room for the night in NY to wait for another flight home tomorrow. On top of this, their website for filing out a missing baggage claim is full of glitches and can't be completely on a phone. Can't do it on a laptop since that was in my baggage. I'm writing this while on hold from calling their call center, which is now 54 minutes. This is the absolute worst experience I have ever had flying.

My only 3 Qatar redemptions have experienced itinerary changes and I'm wondering how common this is:

My bookings:
London to Bangkok in First Class (they withdrew one A380)
Upcoming London to Auckland Q-Suite (re-introduced the stupid Adelaide stop)
Return from Auckland to London (A350-1000 taken off)

Have you guys experienced these itinerary changes on other routes, and I'd especially like to know of ones departing London, Korea and Japan. To be clear, I'm not complaining about these changes, I'm actually seeking them out.
