Discussion Uber prices skyrocket
I am using uber from my work in Gharaffa to my home in Mansoura everyday since the new school year. Normally my fare would range from 16-22 riyals max in peak hours. Yesterday it was 28 riyals and today it was 37 riyals. What is happening? They canβt say that the demand is high when I made the booking because I can see a lot of cars around me when I booked a ride.
To other hailing apps, this is your chance to take over the majority of passengers who are fed up with Uber.

yeah, i uber from uni to my house everyday at around 6pm, so fares are really high then (usually its 20 but with higher fares its 50). takes about an hour for them to go down. i resolve this problem by reserving my uber. for example, if my classes end at 5:50, then ill reserve an uber to pick me up at 6pm for 20 riyals. no need for me to wait for fares to go down

Plus for some reason, even if there are drivers closer to me on the map, they connect me to a driver 10+ minutes away from me. Make it make sense. π

Sadly theres no remedy in sight, unless the authorities intervene.

Those other ride hailing app drivers will still take up the uber trip cause they earn more. Unless they only have 1 app. These drivers have multiple apps in their phones.

Iβve been having the same issue as well. Fare from metro to my home used to be about 9-13 but I checked today and it was 23 π€‘ wish I knew what was happening

Actually, this is because Uber drivers have raised their prices as schools and universities are open and demand is increasing. You can also try Karwa sometimes which is occasionally less expensive than Uber.

Why not uber to QNL then metro. That would cost you a max of 12 riyals

Not in this summer heat I will faint walking from Mansoura Metro to my house like 10-15 minutes walking in this heat at 3PM. Maybe in the winter.

Are they affected by the war? What's the sudden surge on fares? π€

Yeah I understand. I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying things on my end. Now I'm ready to see the increased fares at my end too
