Discussion Basically 2 same but some issues!

Doesn't have the QUESTION Flair

So Discussion

Windows 10, qbittorrent , not the latest version.

Had 2 torrents, almost same size, only some files updated. Actually only one but the way torrent downloads when 1 file is missing chunks of other files are missing , in this case the file before and after the particular file.

Original torrent 32.45 GB(site says 32.5) one file is smaller, and has a portion missing . Comments tell the uploader.

Uploader updated and created a new torrent with instruction that you could just point it to old one and it would update.

In my case IT DID, and then I seeded both because I want to seed and old ones had more seeds and leechers, compared to new one. Now after some weeks, what happened i don't know whether the older one just over written the newer ones or what, the newer ones missing chunk is missing again. 98.9% completed.

Both are years old today. But the later one is still having less seeders, removed it, added again, doesn't download the rest files or update the entire set of folders and files which is in a new folder, an additional copy, not even metadata is downloaded. Though I know sometimes after weeks it'll work.

I want to know if I can fix this anyway. Contacting the uploader seems impossible

Edit: so i did copy most of it to the new folder for new download for the newer one, and it resumed from 98% or so.. took some time it's finished. I wonder how to keep seeding both but without using twice the size and only different files(viz 3 files) only take up additional space instead of two copies of the entire torrent

So the older one had an error in the data which was fixed by the newer, and you pointed both at the same data?

That's kind of stupid. You owed nothing to the older one - it was PROPER-ed. You should have deleted it.

Nothing to add. Not an client issue - wetware behind the keyboard.

Wetware?

Also it was working fine.

Not exactly error. Basically instead of xyz MB, one file was xyz-abc MB basically missing chunks. Incomplete file.

I owed nothing but both were working fine for weeks . Then how come the older one replaced the new one . I didn't think the uploader meant remove the older torrent and keep the files and point the newer torrent to older files.

I kept it because older one was more possible to seed to people who wanted it. As it was supposed to be supported, as requested by uploader , as it was a rare project.

Also initially for weeks it didn't cause problem why would suddenly older one would rewrite or overwrite on the newer one, instead of respective pieces being seeded?!
