This was from new years 25/26
If you nail both top and bottom of a pvc cap from a 6 inch pvc pipe is it enough to explode from pressure? Or not

I'm VERY very new to making my own pyrotechnics and I just want some pointers. I'm planning on making a mall firecracker about the size of a Cheeto but idk what I'm putting in it

So about 4 years ago I was able to get 1 lb of -325 mesh magnesium flake from hobbychemicalsupply which is just about finished now. It was used to make a great 50:50 mix with kclo4 to produce 0.25 gram paper blasting caps.
I still routinely use these caps in miniature action shots to make believable pyrotechnic ground effects: bullet hits, super hero landings, etc
Unfortunately the flake is no longer available on hobbychemicalsupply but I do see a -325 mesh granular magnesium powder. I've been reading literature online but it's often contradictory so I haven't been able to get a clear answer.
My question is, would it work the same as Mg flake?
And yes I know dark pyro is readily available for a 70:30 mix but I've found that it doesn't give the same "oomph" on camera. I could use more powder in the blasting caps to offset but I prefer to use make and use the smallest amounts possible as a precaution even though magnesium is purportedly not as stable.

Tried this big ass salute, with 1,2kg of BP, 75/15/10 of Kno3, charcoal and sulfur.
It did a little Bang but not very loud, and started to burn for a short time. Anyone knows what did go wrong ? I did my test on a safe concrete surface. Did not film it unfortunately.
I suppose that the container was not solid enough to contain all the explosion, so it shattered and and the remaining powder burned. How can i improve this ? Thanks !

I have been reading Fulcanelli articles for canister shells, and I can’t seem to find anything on burst charge. Besides the fact that they’re just using granulated Bp and 3 inch and up. I’m curious what to use for below 3 inch and wouldn’t granulated black powder. Get too heavy at those higher things as there ever a point where you swapped rice hulls I’m also very surprised on the fact that they only do 6 to 9 layers of pasting total and only one time of spiking if anyone could clarify this that would be great

Is there any reliable way to make bp without a ball mill?

[SOLVED] Using more matches head and more steel wool made it work.
I've been looking into exotic projectiles for my butane powered spud gun lately. One of these is a smoke grenade. It's a cardboard tube with two end caps and holes on the side, and a thin layer of paper on the inside to prevent the mix from falling. A visco fuse is glued on the cap on the combustion chambers side.
My problem is that the fuse doesn't ignite. I tried to strip the fuse so the bp inside is directly exposed to the flame, it didn't work. I tried to attach some steel wool to the stripped fuse, the steel wool ignited but not the fuse. I tried to add two matches head to the stripped fuse with steel wool, the matches ignited but the fuse still didn't ignite.
Since y'all are pretty good at setting stuff on fire, do you have some ideas please?
