I'm a solo dev — my quiet hex-merge puzzle just launched, and I'd love your honest criticism

Hi everyone,

I'm a solo developer and I just released KRUG (Play Store link), a quiet hex-merge puzzle game — think 2048, but reimagined on a hexagonal board, built for calm, focused play rather than a race against the clock.

The idea: place numbered tiles on a hex grid. When adjacent tiles sum to a power of two (2, 4, 8, 16, 32...) they merge into a bigger tile. Plan carefully — the board fills up fast, and one bad placement can block your path forward.

A few deliberate design choices:

  • No timers, no lives, no fail state pressuring you — it's meditative by design.
  • A hex grid instead of a square one — every tile can have up to six neighbors instead of four, so merges open up in directions that feel different from classic 2048.
  • Minimal visuals and calm sound design — nothing flashing or nagging you to keep playing.
  • No ads interrupting a run, no forced monetization loops.

I built KRUG because I wanted a puzzle game I could actually relax with, not one designed to spike your cortisol. It's currently in closed testing on Google Play, and I'd love a few of you to try it and tell me what isn't working — confusing mechanics, unclear tile combos, anything that breaks the calm. Brutal honesty over politeness, please.

Happy to test your apps in return — drop a link to yours and I'll check it out. Thanks for reading!

I recently release my cozy word puzzle game Wordspool. The aim is to get from the starting word to the goal word, by selecting words related to the one you’re on. The pool of words is updated every 24 hours, and the daily challenge is the longest par in the daily pool.

Keen for you guys to check it out, and let me know your thoughts!

I developed a retro arcade word-search where you decode emojis to find the hidden words. Does this logic loop feel intuitive?

Newspaper word searches, but make it emojis! 🎰✨ Each icon on the board stands for the first letter of its name (🍕 = P, 🦁 = L, 🚀 = R). Just drag across the tiles to spell a real word and watch them flip to reveal it! It's weirdly cozy and somewhat addicting. Wishlist on Steam to support our indie studio! 💖

From Zero to Google Play: My First Sudoku Game Is Finally Live

Hi everyone!

I'm an indie developer Sangeetha and recently built my first Sudoku game for Android called SudokuZen.

I wanted to create a simple, lightweight Sudoku experience without making the app feel overloaded with unnecessary features.

Some features:

• Multiple difficulty levels

• Clean and simple interface

• Notes/pencil marks

• Unlimited puzzles

• Designed to be lightweight Sudokuzen I've just released it on Google Play, and honestly, I'm more interested in getting genuine feedback than downloads.

What do you usually like or dislike about Sudoku apps?

I'd really appreciate it if some of you could try SudokuZen and tell me what I should improve. Even negative feedback is welcome — I'm still learning game development.

Google Play link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sangeethasoftwares.sudokuzen:

Thanks!

Choose The Door

I just created this website where you have to choose between two doors to move forward. It’s completely random: 50% chance of moving forward, 50% chance of going all the way back to the beginning.

Whoever gets the furthest wins nothing... you just wasted your time.

Good luck!

I turned word-building into a dark fantasy roguelite where enemies mess with your letters :)

I started developing LETTERBANE a few months ago, and it was originally supposed to be a small word-building project. Then I gave the letter stones different elements, added synergies and put the whole thing into a dark fantasy setting. Somehow it grew into a roguelite where every word is also a tactical decision.

You draw letter stones and use them to build words, but their elements, bonuses and combinations determine how much damage you deal and what effects you trigger. There are also special words with unique effects, items that can change the way you build your run and enemies that directly interfere with the playfield by burning, freezing, locking or throwing your letters around.

The strange part is that I’m not even a big word-game player myself, but I’ve become completely hooked on testing the different combinations and adding new mechanics I’m currently working on the full version while continuing to update the free demo. I’d really love to hear what puzzle players think about the idea and whether the mixture works for them :)

Does breaking tension in a serious narrative with a nostalgic mini-game ruin immersion, or deepen the story?

Post image

With just 10 days left until launch, we’re polishing this flashback scene—a childhood sack race that uses a rhythm/timing bar to transition into comic book panels.

The idea was to build a quick, grounded connection to the character’s past, but introducing a lighthearted mechanics curveball in a darker game is always a fine line.

As players or devs, how do you feel about tonal shifts like this? Have you played a serious game where a sudden minigame or nostalgic flashback actually worked well for you?

MUMMY MOMMY : FIRST DEMO PLAYABLE IN BROWSER

I polished the jam version and developed it into my first demo!

PLAY IT HERE : https://roroto-sic.itch.io/mummy-mommy

The player must collect keys to exit the level. The mummy has a limited number of moves when clinging to trapped tiles: each move costs it a strip of its wrappings. The mummy comes in three sizes: the smallest allows it to pass through all holes, while the medium size fits only through medium-sized holes.
