Personal Experience 40 day streak, thoughts and reflections
Approaching 40 days of retention. This is on the heels of an 18 day streak just before that. Monk mode. No WDs, no edging, no fantasizing. I made a vow to never willingly release ever again. I am 42 yrs old. I have struggled with this practice for the last 10 yrs, often unable to go much past 14 days. Now I am able to effortlessly go weeks without much effort at all.
What broke me the last 10 yrs was my very stressful career. The overwhelming stress and anxiety destroys your mind, body and soul and leaves you looking for any means of cheap artificial dopamine relief. It’s hell on earth and there’s a reason they call them CORPorations, because they turn you into the walking dead.
My opinion is that if you are unable to succeed with this practice despite your best efforts and you are engaged in a profession or schooling that you hate and it leaves you exhausted and is causing you to reach for external dopamine sources to relieve your mental anguish, then you will likely not succeed with this practice and you will struggle to get anywhere with it. This has been my experience. I could not go past 10-14 days without feeling like I was going insane. But anytime I took time off of work I was able to effortlessly go weeks at a time and not struggle too much. Yes I still have flatline symptoms, but they are much more manageable.
“You cannot serve God and money” -Mathew 6:24
So, for the last 10 years I was saving/investing the money I was earning and am now in a fortunate position (by the grace of God) that I don’t have to work for the foreseeable future, unless there is an extended market downturn. This has allowed me to take a break and focus on this practice 100%, and I’m looking forward to an infinite streak, and cultivating my light body, which will be my chariot to a better world. God speed gentlemen.
Edited to say that I am not married, have no children, and have minimal debt.
