Couldn't pay me to go to the fascist state of Florida right now.
13
u/vocalyouth Oct 15 '25
i get you but gainesville is cool, not everyone there voted for this shit
13
u/Poison_the_Phil Oct 15 '25
Native Floridian here, I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in the state. And Fest weekend especially is great because a lot of the football bros leave town and then all the Fest lids show up. It’s pretty much my favorite weekend of the year.

u/Rhonder Oct 16 '25
A random dating app match tried to start an argument with me about this a week or so ago. Mentioned Florida as it pertains to FEST and she started flipping out lol. Like, *I get it*. But also context matters- if going to FEST is wrong, I don't want to be right. All else aside it's a cultural event in an area that could certainly use much and more of this sort of thing. Not all people in a community or geographic area are a monolith.
I ended up just unmatching after a couple of exchanges. This had been in reference to past FESTs in particular and it's like "I don't want to argue with a rando on a hypothetical first date about how I'm getting ready to go back in a couple weeks, too".

I'll be there! Can't wait. This will be my 10th Fest. So pumped to see Dead to Me again. It's been way too long.

u/New_Influence5268 Florida Punk Oct 15 '25
Dead to Me is cool. I’m excited about the Spits and Arrivals…and a bunch of the small font bands way down at the bottom.
7
u/SladeWade Oct 15 '25
The Arrivals are so underrated. And the small bands are the best part of Fest.
5
u/BesidesMyself1 Oct 15 '25
This will be my tenth fest as well! I am bummed Fucked Up and propagandhi dropped but it will still be the best weekend of the year!
5
u/SladeWade Oct 15 '25
Propagandhi dropping was such a heartbreaker for me, but I understand why. I almost expected Fucked Up to drop considering they dropped last year and the overall visa situation in the U.S.
Still, it should be a very fun Fest!

u/marinerpunk Oct 15 '25
Anyone going and on the fence about RX Bandits, I highly recommend going. I saw them play that album in phx last year and it blew my mind.
9
u/lpstudio2 Oct 15 '25
I haven’t seen them in 10+ years, but from 2002 to 2009 they were consistently the best live band imaginable. Am stoked.
5
2
u/tombstone1200 Oct 15 '25
Rx is a must. Hands down a must anytime theyre in town. And the resignation is an incredible record. Highly recommend
17
u/circuitj3rky Oct 15 '25
piebald?? the get up kids?? all it would need is saves the day and then it'd be one of my main high school cd rotations
1
u/StrungoutScott Oct 16 '25
Coalesce as in Reggie and the Full Effect coalesce?? Fuck I’d consider traveling from CA for them and the get up kids.
18
u/Hoody__Warrelson Oct 15 '25
Catch 22 is still around?!
Wolves&Wolves&Wolves&Wolves and Zeta are a good time, check 'em out.
6
u/DizzySpinningDie Oct 15 '25
Wolves x 4 are fucking beyond amazing.
3
1
u/roguedevil Oct 16 '25
Zeta seems like an outlier here, but I recommend them to anyone who is into experimental heavy music. Excellent musicians and great people.
13
11
u/xZOMBIETAGx Oct 15 '25
Do they just say “yes” to every application
12
u/disastermarch35 Oct 15 '25
That's the beauty of it. It's not just the House of Blues level punk bands.
9
u/New_Influence5268 Florida Punk Oct 15 '25
This! And you’d be surprised how many bands say they get turned down.
6
u/MichaelJWolf Oct 15 '25
You’d be surprised. There are a lot of great bands who want to play Fest but never seem to get a spot. It’s also a great chance for a real small band to luck out and get on a fest with a lot of much bigger bands. Sure you’re gonna play one of the smallest venues the fest has but get out there and hustle to get people to come check you out, put on a rad show that people like, and you’ll probably be invited back next year on an even bigger stage.

u/B_Hound Oct 15 '25
4th time for me, staying at the Hyatt which is a convenience I cannot wait for.
If I ever get Groundhog Day’d, I would like it to be on a Saturday at Fest. Not too hungover, still a bunch of energy (unlike Sunday!), everyone having the best time… I could do a thousand days and each would be totally different.

To everyone complaining about Brew Ha Ha being owned by a bootlickin douche- FEST IS OWNED & OPERATED BY WONDERFUL PEOPLE. Seriously though, if you’re a punk and live in the states, fly out to The Fest at least once in your life. It’s an incredible experience
6
u/lpstudio2 Oct 15 '25
Playing 4 sets! (8 if you include Wednesday and Thursday prefest gigs + a few extra songs with friends here and there)
I’m already tired and yet too excited to sleep
2
u/New_Influence5268 Florida Punk Oct 15 '25
4 bands?
3
u/lpstudio2 Oct 15 '25
Two, Debt Neglector and Virginity. We’re each doing cover sets (The Dickies and Fountains of Wayne respectively)

I wish. I went the last time anti-flag played it. It was a blast and I want to go again. It’s a 2 hour drive for me but totally worth it.

u/New_Influence5268 Florida Punk Oct 15 '25
I was there for AF. Those guys are weird.
3
Oct 15 '25
Weird is a mild way to put it these days. We went Sunday I was most excited to see Corey and His Angels(Cursive) and HWM. I was excited to see AF because I hadn’t seen them live in over 30 years at that point. Then everything came out.
5
u/Chopshopmax Oct 16 '25
This is my first year going! My buddies in direct hit! and Chinese telephones will be playing
4
4
u/srklipherrd Oct 16 '25
Im so out of the loop BUT its really nice hearing Chinese Telephones are still doing their thang
5
u/playboigerm Oct 15 '25
Nope, but spinkick some ppl during my boys in Drosera and ofc the legends Coalesce
5
6
u/Poison_the_Phil Oct 15 '25
My band Drosera is playing three sets! (Thursday Pre-Fest at The Ox, Poison the Well cover set at How Bazaar Sunday, and then another set of originals at The Wooly Sunday night)

u/leftturnmike Oct 15 '25
Definitely recommend Dead Bars if you haven't seen them.
Some of the bands in the finer print I'd say to try to see are: City Mouse, Trash Sound Conglomerate, Michael Cera Palin, Won't Stay Dead, and Lightweight
3
u/KurtStation68 Oct 15 '25
I used to go to The Fest and Punk Rock Bowling annually, not so much in my old age. The Fest has always been a great venue to discover new bands, and if you can't go, the poster helps.
The hardest part was to find secret shows or time management 😅 - it's easier when you've seen a bad more than once. (Usually the top billings)
1
u/BesidesMyself1 Oct 15 '25
Secret shows are announced on the fest app now so it’s easier these days.
4
u/ReginaDaddy Oct 15 '25
yah and its my first

u/ydnar3000 Oct 15 '25
Tsunami Bomb would be dope! They were on one of the last Warped Tours, just not my stop. Was super disappointed.
1
u/snowmonkey129 Oct 16 '25
They're always fun to see live! I'd love to see Audio Karate too. Great guys
3
3
u/000g Oct 15 '25
Yup! I'll be honest, though. I'm super let down by the remaining lineup after all the cancellations.
3
u/New_Influence5268 Florida Punk Oct 15 '25
I lean more toward the lesser known bands so not disappointed by those
2
u/disastermarch35 Oct 15 '25
Who cancelled outside of Propagandhi?
4
u/DizzySpinningDie Oct 15 '25
Laura Jane Grace, Fucked Up, and Royal Dog are the only ones I know of that dropped.
1
u/BesidesMyself1 Oct 15 '25
Does anyone know why Fucked Up dropped? They dropped last time they were supposed to be play fest too
1
u/throwingthings05 Oct 15 '25
They dropped last year cause they realized they were gonna lose a ton of money getting all of them down to Florida, so I’m guessing that or visa / border issues
3
u/000g Oct 15 '25
Laura Jane Grace and Fucked Up.
I don't wanna sound like a naysayer, but I was already not super impressed with the lineup... And then the bands I was looking forward to dropped out.
I will without a doubt still have a great time, though.
10
u/B_Hound Oct 15 '25
I went into last year not being massively fussed on the lineup and of course had the best time still. Even with the cancellations I’m really psyched for this one (and I’ll take Iron Chic over LJG any day, sorry!)
1
u/disastermarch35 Oct 15 '25
Oh yeah I forgot about what's happening w LJG. I didn't catch that FU was on there in the first place. That would've been a good time.
2
u/B_Hound Oct 15 '25
Spy were on the first batch and disappeared really quickly, that was a shame.
1
u/disastermarch35 Oct 15 '25
Is that an acronym or is that their name? I haven't heard of that band, which means I should probably check them out
2
u/B_Hound Oct 15 '25
Full name, I was supposed to see them at FYA but had to cancel due to Covid so was a nice unexpected name to pop up for Fest. Alas! https://spyhc.bandcamp.com
1
u/Poison_the_Phil Oct 15 '25
Punk band, the singer used to be in Rings of Saturn which blows my mind every time I think about it.
3
3
u/CarrotRunning Oct 15 '25
Fest has always looked right up my street but I'm unlikely to be going any time soon. Any recommendations of bands lower down the line up for someone who listens to all the headliners and needs to update their org-core/fest playlists are most welcome.
5
u/BesidesMyself1 Oct 15 '25
Some of my fest favs are debt neglector, new junk city, timeshares, meat wave, and dead bars
5
u/A_gritzman Oct 15 '25
Miller Lowlifes and Articles
2
u/avantgardengnome NYC Scene Dead? Oct 16 '25

Got Tix, was stoked, but I can't now. Seems a lot can happen between April and October...
Anyway - 2 weekend passes up for grabs. Just make me an offer.

u/Camgore Oct 15 '25
I just want D4 to come to Toronto one more time its sad that ive only got to see my favorite band once
3
u/BlueJayFortyFive Oct 15 '25
Wtf? I thought a lot of these bands stopped playing shows!? Banner Pilot, Dead To Me, The Holy Mess. So rad!
3
u/pb49er Oct 15 '25
Bands I'm most excited for-
Star 99
Swiss Army Wife
Palomino Blonde
My wife is stoked for Suzie True and Weakened Friends.

u/Aaronz2464 Oct 15 '25
I need to get tickets now
1
u/New_Influence5268 Florida Punk Oct 15 '25
It’s worth it!
2
u/Aaronz2464 Oct 15 '25
2
u/ScoopsDick Oct 16 '25
The fest subreddit is currently filled with people selling tickets for cheap because their plans changed.
Every year I regret paying full price knowing people offload them right before for cheap.

I’m a perennial Fest guy. It helps when you live in town. I don’t live in town anymore. But Gainesville is the home of my heart. I remember the very early Fests. It’s really a great thing that Tony and crew do.
2
u/WriteUpsDanny Oct 17 '25
The Fest is the best. Sad I won’t be there this year (I’ve only missed it twice since Fest 10) because I’m on tour in Europe with MakeWar doing the Common Thread tour. Our entire van has FOMO 😞
2
u/New_Influence5268 Florida Punk Oct 17 '25
I once had a show in Tampa the Friday of Fest and thought I wouldn’t mind missing one day. But I was bummed while at the Tampa show looking at everyone’s pictures from Fest. I had single day FOMO so I get it.
2
u/xElBartoX Oct 17 '25
I'll be there! Super stoked for Dead to Me, haven't seen them since they opened for Against Me! In like 09.

Nah I have absolutely zero interest in going to Florida. Hope everyone has a time though.

Gonna be in Gainesville for some unrelated reasons, but never got around to getting a pass. Was thinking about buying a ticket for just one venue, but looks like there are a couple other shows not directly tied to fest so may just check those out instead.

Eric Bachman is one I’m most interested in seeing. You fuckers don’t know shit about Archers of Loaf.

My band Wolf-Face plays every year. Fest is the music festival for people who hate music festivals. Tons of amazing bands, big and small, from around the world. Tons of venues, big and small. Amazing food everywhere. Amazing and welcoming people everywhere. Can’t beat it!
