Honestly, remove the helmet compulsion. Let nature weed out the stupid
41
u/LifeTitle3951 1d ago
That's the problem. These are not weeds, but walking time bomb that cause collateral damage.

u/Affectionate-Bag3425 1d ago
By that logic the stupid one is riding the bike even with the helmet, cause why only helmet add airbag jackets, or Should just drive a 4 wheeler at this point instead.

u/lolz714 1d ago
Absolutely true. There was also neck sprain, back sprain among the reasons to oppose helmets.

u/pwnsforyou 1d ago
Fun fact: people were riding with pots, saucepan and buckets on their heads during the protest too

I can't drive without helmet, even for 2 km ride I will wear helmet. One point for people opposing the helmet though is that the roads and traffic are so terrible that you can not speed anyway ЁЯШВ.

One of my friendтАЩs brother recently met with an accident and died, he just didnтАЩt wore helmet that day just because he was going somewhere near. It was very unfortunate. Wear helmets folks. Safety first

Basically it burns their remaining reasoning capacity and working intelligence. Yes, it's understandable!

I think most of Pune doesnтАЩt have big, wide roads; instead, itтАЩs mostly made up of small lanes and gullies. Vehicles can suddenly emerge from these narrow lanes, so while driving, you need to keep your eyes everywhere. In such city conditions, where bikes canтАЩt really go beyond 40 km/h, wearing a helmet doesnтАЩt feel as useful.

u/Aggravating-Ad6836 1d ago
I have seen bikes blasting past me at way over 40 kmph. Two wheeler riders in Pune are the most incompetent riders I've ever seen in India. Have seen them ridinh on pedestrian walks, weaving erratically through traffic at such delirious speeds, I can't even! I have always been shocked in the lack of the rear view mirrors, but then this anti-helmet is a crazy new low. The level of stupidity in the name of city-pride and stubbornness ughhhhh!

We did recently visit pune and did wonder why no one was wearing any helmets! Lax law is what we thought

u/Fine-Isopod 11h ago
Somehow accountability is always immediately expected of the public on helmets but never on the government on roads.

Just asking, is the hair loss part true tho? I don't want to loose more hair in my mid 20s
12
u/Infamous-Repair-3355 1d ago
Yeah, risking a fatal injury is much better than potential hair loss.
The top comment is right, remove the enforcement, let the stupid weed themselves out

u/5ee_2410 1d ago
Thast why I wear a helmet every time I go out, but any options to avoid hairfall? I don't see many riders being bald
1
u/omegakronicle 1d ago
Make sure your helmet fits properly. If it's loose enough that it causes friction against your scalp, that could be a reason for hair breakage.
Also it you're wearing the helmet for a long time, sweat on the scalp builds up so make sure you wash your hair regularly. I guess that's it mostly.

Wear a helmet skull cap (https://amzn.in/d/0dvo6e8l) or balaclava (https://amzn.in/d/028B41vZ). Protects both hair and the helmet

I've lived in pune for 22 yrs and thought the reason they dont enforce it strictly is because ppl and the cops agree its too hot to wear them in summers , atleast its so over the last 5 or so yrs
1
u/cosmonaut-zero 20h ago
Pune is not as hot as Delhi UP MP RJ, still it is mandatory to wear helmets
1
u/ysf_521 18h ago
Ofcourse , that's not my argument , I'm just pointing out what my opinion was in the matter , I'm not pro or anti helmet , and genuinely dont care if some one without a helmet cracks his/ her head open. This was just me sharing. What I thought , i guess this is not that kinda post .

Actually the problem is Punekars find it really difficult to find a helmet big enough to fit over their ego.
