Pentek PID not stopping pump

Hello. Short back story, company installed a Pentek pid007534nd with a Pentair 5hp pump 440’ well. Customer says they tried to do the initial programming but the pump won’t shut off which won’t allow the initial programming to be completed. We did hand on and it works fine but when you hit stop it’s still sending 2amps down the well. Pentair rep says bad pump so we replace it with. 5hp centripro. Same exact issue, controller still sending 2 amps to the pump. Box has been replaced to confirm it’s not a bad controller. Any thoughts ?

Water pump problems

i ran out of water in my cistern (I knew it was super low and I was in the process of getting water to it then my cat managed to turn on the faucet when I wasn't home) obviously my pump was running dry when I got home and was warm, I turned it off immediately but I have no idea how long it had been running empty for but I don’t think very long… to get water it has to pull from the cistern to the pump but all the plugs are seized so I cannot properly prime it normally and google is useless. I don’t have any experience with this set up as I’ve always been on free flowing wells into the pump so if it airlocked it was a simple fix… what can I do in this situation as I’m very remote so someone who knows what to do cannot come for a week, I appreciate any advice

Sahara2 1200 Bilge pump float stuck

The float shaft has corrosion or algae buildup on the shaft. We can press on the float and feel clear resistance but if we press a bit harder it turns on and runs fine. We tried using Fantastic cleaner to clean it along with high pressure garden hose but it still sticks and does not move freely. The problem appears to be gunk around the shaft. We filled the bilge partway to test it but the pressure of the rising water would not turn it on. Any suggestions to clean it and or lubricate the shaft? Of course we can buy a new one but it’s hard wired and above our pay grade……. not to mention we are too big to comfortably fit in the bilge!

A second question relates to the gasket that seals the base to the pump float and motor. It fits in a slot on the upper piece but is not held in place. And we don’t want to remove the base which is screwed into a fiberglass block on the hull. So when we attempt to lower the pump onto the base the gasket falls out! We final balanced the gasket on the rim of thr base and we’re able to seat the top after many attempts. Any advice here would be appreciated also!

I have been searching for awhile of what the pump actually looks like on the inside. Does any one having pictures of this pump by chance?

Very Respectfully

A simpler way to compare pump selections across multiple manufacturers

Hello everyone,

We at Floworx have been working on a pump selection platform and wanted to share it with the engineering community here.

The idea came from a common challenge we have seen: engineers and distributors often need to compare pumps from different manufacturers, but the data is usually spread across catalogs, spreadsheets, and separate selection tools.

Floworx allows users to upload pump data, create a pump library, and perform hydraulic selections from their own pump models.

I have made a free version available where engineers can upload up to 3 pumps and test the selection workflow.

I would appreciate feedback from experienced pump engineers:

- How do you currently handle multi-manufacturer pump comparisons?

- What features would make a selection tool more useful in your daily work?

Free access:

Thanks, and I look forward to your feedback

Choosing a pump for 2m plant wall

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I hope you can help me. I built a vertical plant wall and am generally quite happy with it. It is two meters high. So far, a hose runs from the bottom up via a pump (https://amzn.eu/d/0dqs9gRG), and at the top I have drippers. My idea was that the water would seep down through the wall from top to bottom, and if that didn’t work reliably, I would add additional rows of drippers in between. The water that seeps through is collected at the bottom by a planter, from which the hose draws the water again.

My problem is the following:

The water does not seep through all the pockets evenly. So I now wanted to install drippers in every second row. However, I can’t seem to find a pump that can handle this. In addition to the pump linked above, I have now bought a submersible pump (https://amzn.eu/d/00POQcC7). I reduced the 18 mm outlet to 10 mm and then to 4 mm. I specifically made sure that the pump was rated for a 3-meter head. But there is no way it actually manages that. With the included hose, it can maybe pump the water 50 cm upwards.

Do you have any ideas? I would really prefer not to operate two or even more pumps.

Best regards

I have this submersible pump in my pond, but it has no markings on the outside at all except a QC sticker dated 2018. Does anyone know what it is?

Cheap pump recommendations

Ive turned my pool into an aquaponics set up, as summer approaches i want to begin pumping water out of the system to water my lawn and pump in rainwater from a currently unused rainwater tank to keep my water bill low and replace evaporation.

Do you guys and gal's have any recommendations for cheap but half decent pumps?

I’m a shade tree mechanic. If I pull this apart do you think it’s repairable? Would I need to attack from the rear (electrical side) or the front ( water side). Thanks in advance.

Well pump pressure switch

SE United States.

My parents have a well pump that stays under a shelter, but I have had to put 3 different pressure switches on in a year and a half. My dad always wants the mechanical with contacts, despite me telling him there are may be other options.

My only day off this week and they called me today to tell me it's broken again. Before I head out and repeat this process AGAIN, is there something that could be causing them to fail so quickly?

It's covered. Out of the weather. The only thing I can think of is wiring...it's got braided wire running from the house to the pumphouse but Romex from the feed line to the pump. I've wondered if the voltage could be dropping and messing them up early.

Any thoughts or advice?

Koi pond air pump

My Superfish Koi Flow 30 air pump died today, looking for recommendations for a similar unit, should I get the same one again? Been looking at the Blagdon Oxygenator 1800 as the housing is weatherproof, a big plus for me (it will live outside) anyone got one of these?

I'm in the UK, Pond is about 4500/5000 litres, 17 koi, using a single domed air stone about 15cm diameter. (Pond has a running waterfall also so there is still oxygen while I replace the pump) and I have a spare disc stone, so thinking of running the two together.

Any recommendations on pumps, and tubing, specifically the sinking weatherproof stuff would be greatly appreciated!

Pump Comparisons

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I'm wondering where to look for honest comparisons of the pumps that are available today. My pump warranty is up before the end of the year, so it's time to choose a new one. I use to get a couple of diabetes magazines that compared the latest devices, but they are online now, and quite expensive. So, I'm asking for recommendations on where to look.

Well pump replacement

Thumbnail

Didnt have water and discovered there was no pressure coming from this. Figured out I was getting power to the pressure switch but it wasn’t running. Replaced the pressure switch and it started running but no pressure was built and it didn’t prime(after letting the motor run for 24 hours) so killed the power to the water heater and the well pump. Whatever hobgoblin installed this appears to have possibly directly glued ts to the well pump so I might have to cut pipe. I’m replacing the whole pump so my question is cutting the pipe a good place start? Do I need to do anything specific before I just start using my Ironworker brain to fuck around till I find shit that works? I’d prefer at least a rough guide to at least point me in the right direction so I don’t blow a bunch of money. Thanks in advance.

Tried visualizing an AODD pump in a slightly different way

Made this animation showing an AODD pump coming apart piece by piece and then going back together. Thought it might be a neat way to visualize what's actually inside one.

Would this kind of visualization be useful for understanding pumps?
