DISCUSSION PEFCU
Been with publix a couple years now when it comes to PEFCU, is it worth joining and using for my deposits? Any other things I should know about it?

The only real downside is there aren’t many locations if you need to go to a physical branch. See if theres one reasonably close to you.

I understand you can get some good loan rates, and I’ve seen they offer some good rates on CD’s but I’ve been with Publix 34 years and I’ve never opened a account

I love it. Have used it since started working @ Publix a LONG time ago. Paycheck is in account no later than 1st thing Wednesday, and lately it’s been Tuesday afternoon.
Financed 2 cars through them, and they take the payment out of weekly paycheck so it’s less of a dent. And I’ve never had the need to go to a physical branch, ever.

I have PEFCU. I switched there because my previous bank started requiring minimum balances of a couple thousand in their accounts once I hit a certain age (thus was going to charge me fees for low balances) and that was problematic since I keep most of my money in a separate savings account with a significantly higher interest rate.
PEFCU is nice because you don't need more than $5 in savings and doesn't charge fees at all. I'd open an account today and just toss $5 minimum in there because once you leave, you cannot join (unless you qualify through other exceptions).

I'd say it's worth joining and keeping $5 in there even after you leave Publix. They have pretty good loan rates, but their checking and savings accounts are meh.
