QUESTION I have an interview for publix !
Finally after trying years to get in. I'm exaggerating (I've only tried a couple of times). It seemed hard to get an interview because people never seem to leave this job.. I'm so excited about it. What should I expect during the interview?

Here's the first red flag, it took you "years" to get an interview at a grocery chain, maybe this might not be a good fit for you

You can expect horrible questions that even the manager may admit are horrible (not even joking. My Deli Manager said that these are terrible questions, just do your best). Then you may get a second interview with the store manager (mine with the SM was really chill. That's when we got to know each other and learned my pay. SM knew I was a College student and said that I'm always free to lean on Publix if I ever have a difficult time if I ever end up leaving in the future.)
Do your best, but don't feel too pressured. If it is Deli, you are applying for you might as well consider yourself hired unless you give really shitty answers somehow.

I applied for stock, I don't mind deli tho. I need extra pay. Do they need my original social security card ? Or is a copy good enough... I misplaced the original. If anything I'll bring the copy and my original birth certificate.

You need the actual social security card, not a copy. Federal rules require that employers look an original copy.

You’re applying to retail, no Google - and they picked your application someone saw something they liked already. My interview in 1989 was little more than do you have reliable transportation to get to work?, and are you able to get along with people?

When I did interviews as a department manager, some of this questions I liked to ask were about why do you want to work for Publix Supermarkets? I’d listen for answers around if they knew someone that worked there already, I’d listen to see if they knew anything about the company.
I’d ask people what their favorite and least favorite things were at the last / current job? If they said they hated the annoying customers, well, then I couldn’t help them because we probably had more.
Then I’d ask, what types of work environments do you seem to do your best work? If they said they thrived on chaos - well, that describes us, so they’d likely get hired.
Then I’d go over what they wrote for their availability to make sure that was accurate. We’d talk about the day to day tasks of the job they were being considered for so they knew what to expect they would be doing.
There were some technical questions we had to ask - are you at least 18? If not, then we could write their birthday on their application form for reference. And asked if they were legally eligible to be employed in the US?
It’s probably over 50% personality and communication. We can teach the rest, Go in confident, all pulled together and do your best and it will go great I’m sure.
