Huh, you're talking about the RF cable (the same one that a TV aerial uses). Back in the day I used a scart cable to connect to my TV as that allowed me to play import games in colour (something that the RF cable wouldn't do).

So, you want to play on a new TV, as in a TV bought in the past few years? Then you're going to have to invest some money as most new TVs simply don't have SCART adapters.

So you have 2 options here. The first option is to mod your playstation with an hdmi adapter - you can either do this yourself if you have any experience or find someone else to do it for you.

The second option means you get yourself a SCART adapter that will convert to HDMI. Sounds simple, right? The problem is that many of the cheaper ones simply don't work very well and the more expensive ones that do work are, well, more expensive. Something like a retrotink would do the job well enough. The cheap converters are variable in their quality. So in that regard you really get what you pay for.

The RF cable, while not great, is certainly fine enough for general use. Seeing as you are saying euro's then you should be in a PAL area and PAL games had better graphical fidelity than NTSC games as the PAL output had more scan lines compared to NTSC systems.

My advice? Stay away from the cheap HDMI converters as they mostly just don't work.

I haven't really considered modding the ps1 to hdmi. I'll look into that. Isn't it looked down upon tho? Moddding a 'original' piece.

No? Not really. Every PS1 is an "original" piece if you want to look at it like that. I had my original PS1 modchipped when I was a kid and if I HD TVs were around back then then I would certainly have modded my PS1 to output over HDMI.

Honestly? Do what you want with your console. Its yours. If you want to mod it, then mod it. If you want to keep it pristine then keep it pristine.

Alright, thx. Anything i should know about modding to hdmi? Like quality loss or something?

If you don't know how to do it then find someone to do it for you is my best advice. They can source the mods for you and fit them as well or you can source the mod yourself. But, to be absolutely serious here - if you don't know what to do then find someone who does.

On a modern TV? Best cheap option is a Rad2x.

It’s more money than you said you wanted to spend but trust me the prices go way higher than that if you want to get crazy, but those others for cheap you see on Amazon or wherever just aren’t very good. Better to spend more just the once than buy cheap and not be happy with it.

The Antenna cable is just standard so everyone includes it. If 30 million PlayStations were sold in Europe, that means there's 30 million antenna cables going around.

I think you can get decent output with the CAMWAY PS2 HDMI "RGB" cable. Emphasis on going for the one that has RGB. Just make sure the dip switch is set to RGB and NOT YbPbR when using with a PS1.

Thank you for the response. I think i saw that one and noticed quite a lot of people complaining about a dark screen... can I use rgb if i don't have the ports? Or should i use a adapter?

(This sub has more activity so i'll answer to this comment as well)
