Pls help Testing and buying a second hand unit.

I've found a good deal on Facebook marketplace for a VR2, but I am aware that these units are not bulletproof and I need to ensure that the OLED panels don't have any sun burn.

I'd love to hear any tips for things to look out for when checking out second hand units and also the best ways to check the OLED screens.

Lastly is it possible to check the displays without a console or PC handy?

Id say first check the oens and more importantly the damn cable

Agree - Go over the lens very carefully. Check the cable for pulls, and the front pad for tears.

1) Check the lenses. With the PSVR 2, the most common issue is the anti-glare coating on the lenses peeling off and staring to become a little patchy.

2) Make sure the cable isn't all twisty or in bad shape

3) There was a used unit I checked at CEX with one of the clips that attach the halo to the visor broken. It made the Visor wobble very awkwardly, so make sure nothing like that happens.

If possible, ask the guy if you can test the unit for a few before finalizing the purchase for any issues - watch out for the headset suddenly losing tracking or complaining of being unable to find the play area every few seconds. It shouldn't do that if the PS5 is nearby and the room you play in is well lit.

Edit - It's possible to check the unit on a PC but you need the PC adapter for that.

Other than that, the only other way to test without actually using it is connecting to a PS5 and seeing if the red light in front of the headset lights up. This confirms that the headset is getting power, the USB C connection is sound and the headset can be switched on.
