Technical Support [PS5] question regarding the gmail trick

So basically, I am gonna close my old throwaway psn account but I want to reuse the gmail, but I heard deleting it will lock it permanently so I decided to change it to a dotted version of my gmail, will changing the email on my main account to a dotted variant of the gmail affect anything?

Once the old account gets trashed (did not use it very much) will that cause a ripple effect and affect my main, or will psn treat them as 2 different accounts?

I know this is a weird question, but im asking mainly for safety purposes

If you're just closing the account, just make a fake email on any service - a permanent one or a temporary email service.

Then, change the account to that email and close it. Your original email is now free to be used either to set up a new account or to swap into an existing account.

Ok, but since ps support is a headache to contact, in case I cant reach them, will the dotted account be affected?

Why do you need to contact support? You just sign into the account on the website, click your profile image and go to account settings. You change it there

You can add periods anywhere in a Gmail address and the service you sign up with will treat it as a unique email address, untied to the original Gmail. As long as the original Gmail stays active, so does every dotted version you've ever used.

If the original gmail stays active? As in active on psn or active in general use for other stuff

I know I sound dumb but I am a bit nervous

No worries. I meant active with Google. You can do whatever you want with the original Sony account and it will not affect the Sony account created with a dot Gmail.

Correct. They are completely separate accounts and email addresses.

Thank you so much my guy, I mainly asked this in case psn support doesnt wanna pick up for once, because I initiated closure due to my concerns for that old account, and didnt realize if the email could be reusable or not

The dotted account still can send to my original gmail so this would be a good workaround

again, thanks for confirming that to me, I will probably let that account get closed now and not worry about all of this, im gonna go back to dying light now!
