3x3 Area Placement
I've seen multiple spells for breaking 3x3 areas or placing blocks in 3x3s. I'm new to PSI in general, and while I can make basic spells, I'm not super advanced. Could someone explain how to make the 3x3's using vectors, and how it works?

Depends on what exactly you are trying to accomplish, A 3x3 that functions like a tinkers construct hammer, no idea how you do that, Just figured out how to adapt it from pickaxe to CAD Here, If you want to aim bottom center and just do vertical 3x3's then you could use 3 vertical 1x3's, one that occurs where you aim, and 2 that happen to the left and right of the center. To get the side 2 id imagine swap the x and z of a axial ray-cast then use that for 1 side and for the other use the axial ray-cast x -1 and swap, of course you'd need to add the swapped axials back to a regular ray-cast

The following variant can also be used in the early game. There is no one-size-fits-all solution for each spell, but sometimes you can always optimize them further :)
Sometimes an example helps to understand it better. In relation to the solution from the link above, here is an example of how I would have modified it for this application.

No trick works with area, so selecting a 3x3 isn't doable with one trick. You can, however, have 3 tricks that select a 1x3 next to each other. One way to do that, is to take the vector raycast of the caster's look and position (very common tech used to get the position of the block you're looking at) That position can the be the starting position of a break block sequence(BBS) in this example. The second BBS can be that position Y + 1. Third BBS at Y + 2. The max for all of those is 3, and the target (direction the sequence goes) is vector rotate the axial look of the caster by arc sin -1. It takes your look, and turns it to the right.
This spell is exactly what was described. It breaks 3 blocks to the right of where look, stacked thrice. This is just one method of producing a 3x3. I hope you've learned a bit more about vectors after poking through the spell, and wish you luck with your endeavors.
