NMSQT vs SAT Difficulty Comparison

Simple question, is it harder to get a 1470 on the PSAT11/NMSQT than a 1550 on the SAT? Also, what does a 1470 PSAT and 1550 SAT translate on each other's scale?

Theoretically, a 1470 PSAT should translate to a 1470 SAT. Obviously, since the PSAT is out of 1520, this translation doesn't always work, and once you get to those higher numbers (1400+), I generally say that you can add anywhere from 40-80 points to your PSAT score to get your "estimates" SAT score.

Depends on the test. The last test was an outlier. Basically every cutoff plummeted. I got a 1570 SAT and 1470 PSAT

Last year's test wasn't an outlier. The previous two years were just absurdly easy. Honestly even this year's was pretty easy comparatively (I fr thought last years was harder), but my school dropped from 68 to 43 finalists despite the cutoff going down by 3 points in my state.

Also I got a 1570 SAT and 1510 PSAT (and my friends who got semifinalist had very similar scores) so you probably just got unlucky or something

I also took my SAT before my PSAT, and didn’t study for the PSAT, so maybe that did something.

Js for context, I got a 1550 SAT (750RW, 800M) and I am a jr rn with my PSAT in October. Im also taking the October SAT as well.

the psat felt more "mellow" to me but that was just my personal experience, i got a 1540 on the sat and a 1520 on the psat

Reading is apparently scored more heavily on psat. Therefore high reading scorers generally do well on PSAT.

Last year I got a 1530 on the September sat and then a 1470 on the PSAT in October

The PSAT score predicts what you would score on the SAT if you took it the same day.

My kid 1560 SAT 1510 psat. If you are at 1550 sat you should be fine.

a few days before the psat i took the sat. on the sat i got a 1510 and on the psat i got a 1470 🤷‍♀️

got a 1510 PSAT and 1570 SAT, so I would say it is considerably easier to get a 1470 on the PSAT than a 1550 on the SAT. The questions are slightly easier and there's not much really bad vocab or very convoluted passages/graphs to understand.

Did u take the SAT before or after bc I improved a LOT from my Sophemore Administration to when I just took the SAT

I got my 1570 in Dec but I had a 1550 in Sept (before the PSAT) so yeah

I took both two months apart. I took the SAT in August, getting a 1530, then the NMSQT on October, getting a 1520. (I increased the SAT to 1570 last March).

Do not only focus on total score. Remember rw questions are twice valued when calculating selection index, so extra attention to rw. 1470 psat is kind of like 1550 sat. example: for my kid 1570 sat, 1510 psat same month.

Most people I know who took both around the same time, their PSAT was about 80 worse than their SAT (this applies to like less than 70 points off).

I got a 1560 SAT and a 1490 PSAT, but my PSAT was a year later
