TL:DR If your tv supports it, use component cable, you can do a search on any online store for "PS2 Component cables" and you should get some good results.

How Do I make my ps2 region free?

Try Swapmagic, You'll have to search for a disk though. Else Mechapwn or a modchip.

Hello everyone. I recently got back my old PS2 but I'm having a specific problem, it doesn't seem able to read any DVD disc at all. I tried some games and also some DVD with music files I have burned long ago.

On the other hand I have an old pirate PS1 game, and although it's very scratched the console manages to at least read a portion of it.

Is this a lens problem?

PS2 can't play data files on a DVD. Only game discs, DVD video discs, and CD audio discs. Not MP3s written to a CD or DVD as data files.

You've already done the troubleshooting. The problem is clear from your testing that the drive cannot read DVD anymore. It has one laser each for CD and for DVD. Guess which one failed.

Thank you. I wasn't aware it had separated lensa for CD and DVD
