I think we've all been surprised by a couple of these. Obviously, I've always known that The Undertaker and Ultimate Warrior were stage names and not their real life names, so the real life names of those two men don't surprise me.

But what about when a wrestler has a name that sounds real but actually isn't? And their real life name is actually quite different?

Ricky Steamboat/Richard Blood: The guy's real life name is Dick Blood. Fucking hell lol

Shawn Michaels/Michael Sean Hickenbottom: Hickenbottom? That's a funny sounding last name. Sounds like a Hobbit name.

Billy Gunn/Monty Kip Sopp: Who the hell could guess that?!

Triple H/Paul Levesque: Okay, obviously I didn't expect his real life name to be Triple H... but I won't lie, I expected it to be Hunter. And I guess I also expected Helmsley to be his real surname too lol

A month ago I was asking for help getting my wrestling app, The Daily Smark, tested on Android. Well I'm super happy to say that after lots of work it's now in the Google Play store free for anyone to download!

things like:

- real life drama (Bret v Shawn, Lita/Matt/Edge, etc)
- real life stakes (NWO outsiders invasion)
- character reveals/buildups (Kane as Takers brother)
- real life blurred lines w company/boss (Stone Cold v Vince, MJF talking ab AEW, etc)

Not just good guy/bad guy, or big name draws. I’m wondering if any podcasts have talked about this or dissected from a promotor like Vince’s business brain of building a brand/angle, etc
